Good point, maybe if a mod thinks it's appropriate, they could move these posts into a separate thread if that's possible..? Sorry that didn't occur to me before the first post. Starting new threads is scary..
This is a great idea. But, if you do want a safe space or something, maybe you could make it in the personal thread (where users need to have 4 posts before they can see it).

Personally, I'd prefer if it were public, so that everyone could see it and be warned, but I also think the safety of the users comes first in this kind of situation. Any post in the "personal" subforum about this topic will not be removed or moved unless we move it to a subforum with similar permissions.

I did make a Toby Turner thread, which I can turn into a general sexual abuse among youtubers thread.
By 'safe space' I was actually only thinking of separating off abuse discussion from this thread so that it wouldn't potentially become unreadable for some users. It's definitely good to keep this general discussion public to warn/inform people, but if anyone needs a more secure space the personal subforum sounds great, I actually didn't know about the permissions on that!

A Toby Turner thread should probably do for now, hopefully it wouldn't be a thread that would be needed much. But equally it could be useful in the future or even to make a kind of archive/resource to inform people about other YouTubers, and - as we've already seen here - discussion might well naturally spiral out. Clearly, I'm undecided, so whatever you/anyone else thinks is best sounds great to me!

This is a bit old news by now but grace (my fav) mentions Phil at 3:36 joking with the phans who commented on her video. "Is this something Phil likes, is this something Phil does, is this some Phil relates to"

Oh damn, I was just about to post this vid. It's interesting to say at least. It seeems like it's something Mark is passionate about. And I'm kind of surprised, that he started youtube in 2012. Huh. I should do my research on him better, I thought he started around slightly after Felix.

I occasionally find myself hate-watching Kalel videos. It's like eating a bag of chips. I eat a handful, then I eat the whole bag, then I hate myself for an hour or two.

Anyway, it looks like she officially went forward with her nose job. No updates yet, just the "I'm having surgery in 12 hours" vlog.
I can't wait to see what the results are gonna be.
I do have to say though, I was really amused by her intro for her "preparing for surgery" video. She has her rare moments that I honestly enjoy and this was one of them.

"I saw some comments being like 'oh, like you're a perfectionist or like you're still not gonna like it or it's gonna be a slippery slope and there's gonna be other things you don't like' and yeah! I'm probably gonna get like 100 things done and you guys get to watch me just plummet into becoming a hot ass mess! Doesn't that sound like fun? Why are you complaining?"

I actually used to really enjoy the wulas vlogs. Nowadays I watch her because I'm curious how her life will turn out. And I like the vegan taste test videos as well lol.

Pewdiepie posted a video on his thoughts about YouTube Drama. I thought he was quite genuine and sincere. It's good for him to convey his opinions like this, since he does have quite the influence as the largest youtube channel. Any thoughts or disagreements?

^^ I like what he says about stepping on other people's lives for views. He does get a bit off track when talking about the (clearly) fake accusation videos about him, though. I'm not exactly sure what his main point is. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding

I think this was in reaction to the Toby Turner situation and all the people making videos about their experiences and opinions on it (and keemstar being garbage above all). So I get it, but I'm also a little mehh about it because most comments on the Toby accusers are basically calling them all liars (and worse). So pewds bringing in those videos (nonsense accusations from strangers) kind of downplays the fact that in Toby's case, the videos are from actual people in his life.. bit different. (But also mob/internet justice is fruitless as well and there's nothing really anybody can do if the law isn't involved (as deFranco basically said in his video on the subject)).

At least Felix was diplomatic/vague enough to keep it about general 'drama'. Good intentions I'm sure, but it's not going to help anything, those drama channels get views and will continue to do so. Bleh.
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

I had a feeling he was intending to comment on that whole situation, but in my opinion, he could have left that bit out and the video would have been clearer. It seemed like he was trying to steer the conversation towards himself and that seemed a bit off-topic. I agree about keeping it somewhat vague, though, even though it won't affect much and drama channels will still continue to do well

Ugh I need to rant.

Like Felix's video was fine, it was pretty much a gentle jab...

Keem is currently being all high and mighty on twitter, how he is going to protect other youtubers from Felix's opinions and like CREATING more drama.

Ugh I just.. Ugh...

Mostly this tweet makes me cringe:

Onision did a video about DramaAlert too, but I won't post it because I know everyone hates him and doesn't want to give him more views. good thing I have adblock on, but I still only watch his vids when I feel absolutely necessary
Also, a bit off-topic but I saw my friend watching a Kalel video in her spare time and I just... sighed...
Has Kalel posted any post-op pics or videos yet?

Could you tell me where to find that video? I don't like him either and don't usually watch him. I don't even know on what channel i should look
Mark's and Felix' videos didn't really make an impression with me, because they seemed all over the place and i don't know what point they were trying to make. Not that i thought about it for long.
That's why i'd like to see onision's video. He's more than just problematic in many ways, but at least he can bring across the point he wants to make (and with adblock i don't mind giving him my view).

Have you seen KSI's video? I think he has a point somewhere, but he's also so rude and dismissive (as you would expect).
(His video under spoilers, because he needs a trigger warning too  )

Everytime he screams "what's the point? Why are you making videos about this? You're not changing anything!" i want to ask him why he makes videos? Why anyone makes videos. This is obviously on Mark and Felix' minds, because it affects them, so they can very well make a video about it.
And i also find it funny how he goes on about not being able to be a shitty human anymore, because you will get called out, but when he was called out by Tomska and Caspar's sister, he reacted like the biggest dick. Like he was being attacked for no reason

I don't think he added anything valuable to the convo, but here it is anyway:

Pewds basically summed all that up with one tweet:
wtfamidoinghere wrote:Mark's and Felix' videos didn't really make an impression with me, because they seemed all over the place and i don't know what point they were trying to make. Not that i thought about it for long.
Honestly, I've watched Mark's video a couple of times now trying to figure out what he's even talking about. I'm still not sure. I don't think he was even really talking about drama, he seemed more like he was just trying to discuss quality of videos/integrity or something.
Quoted from Mark's video:
It should be about you guys and you guys alone, you guys actually have the power in this system. It’s a weird democratic process: if you guys watch a video, obviously there’s a demand for that video. People are going to make more of that type of video and you guys get what you want. If you guys don’t watch a video then obviously that video isn’t going to do as well and not as many people are going to want to make that type of video. And that’s fine! That’s how it works! That’s how you guys have the power and that’s how you guys shape what YT is. The only thing that i have wrong with it is that it stifles creativity for the sake of creativity.
Not sure if he misspoke that final sentence ('for the sake of creativity', shouldn't that be another word?)

Anyway I appreciate more YTers speaking out about their perspective on YT and what it is vs what it could/should be. But I don’t feel like anything helpful is actually being said; I had the same reaction to Jack Howard’s videos on the subject. They’re both basically trying to say the same thing: that creativity is dying and people are watching more garbage (and that those two things are connected). But I don’t think that’s true— ‘garbage’ (meaning the lowest common denominator content), is always going to be wildly popular. America’s Funniest Home Videos had crazy amounts of views over “good” television (scripted, well-thought out, etc) because people think footballs to the groin are funny. Garbage is always going to be there, and people are always going to watch it.

I guess the frustration (for Jack/Mark/etc) comes from seeing such garbage get higher views than what they perceive to have taken more thought and effort and creativity. But they just come off like they’re blaming the viewers ("you guys have the power"). Is he telling us to stop watching shit? Why isn’t he instead telling creators to stop creating shit? It’s like a weird guilt trip, but we can't actually do anything about it because there's nothing to be done. They need to create videos they're happy with and that stimulate them or whatever and hope they have an audience who will appreciate it. I don't know what they expect the viewers to do beyond that because the people mindlessly (or even mindfully) enjoying some garbage entertainment can just as easily enjoy more thoughtful content when it's presented to them (and people who don't care either way... don't care either way and won't even watch the videos complaining about their 'tastes').

Whatever, I kind of wish I knew who he was actually talking about, or what this is in reaction to because it seems like he’s thinking of specific people/situations. Tag and drag or shut up.

thanks fancybum for supplying the video, sorry I wasn't very quick at coming back to this thread
I feel weird about the Pewdiepie tweet. Was that really necessary?
EDIT: I agree with some of KSI's points, to an extent. What was the point in making videos about drama videos? I mean, you can have an opinion, but it's not going to do anything except bring more attention to the subject. I also don't like it when YouTubers complain about YouTube changing in terms of its content. Of course it's changing, it's changing literally every second when a new video is uploaded. Like KSI said, they've already got their platforms and they've made their way up, so they should just be quiet and let others do so as well instead of complaining about people doing things for views.
