49:40 - Phil's video "reading old emails he wrote to people when he was roleplaying-"; defending how none of us can judge Phil because it's not that weird. "It's not that weird, honestly." He was laughing a bit but really in pain.
50:38 - Someone asks if he's going to do one - "I'm not going to do one... like that." So yes, he's going to do one.
50:50 - "We'll see. Ideas, maybe." Right like it fully depends on ideas and not contracts and an exchange of cash.
51:27 - Tinder has good memes. That's what he respects. Babadook. Memes. Ditties. He's just saying words now. Really not comfortable discussing the Tinder thing.
First:
Second: Honestly I'm so cringe-trigued about how he'll work out a spon for a dating app. He hasn't really touched the subject of dating (on more than a very general level) with a ten foot pole for years. So like. His content isn't skits that have absolutely nothing to do with him, they're anecdotal/relatable (don't speak to me about the exams video, don't do it). I don't see a way to keep the topic of dating entirely impersonal? (I mean without it just coming across as the Ad-iest Ad to ever Ad). And he just said no to the Phil way (focusing on distant past experience) of doing it. Sooo. Or he'll make it about just interacting with people in general ('just looking for friends' lol) and it being easier with an app/internet? Because it needs to be somewhat relevant right? I'm like weirdly very stressed about this. He should recruit Tom for a rare ad-collab. Collad.

(Or we'll get a dating-themed ISG and the internet will riot for the rest of time, don't do it Dan)
I'm kind of imagining it in the style of his old sketch videos - like, types of drunk people. He could conceivably do a "types of people you see on Tinder" without actually ever referencing using Tinder himself. (The only problem with that is that he'd surely have to wait until Phil was back to film sketches, since he needs his human tripod to get all those straddled-on-the-bed angles that Dan loves.)

That or he actually is planning on relating it to memes and just hunting Tinder for the most troll-y accounts and messaging them.
at the bolded bit. Otherwise, these have been my thoughts too, how on earth does it relate and how will he make it pass his own quality threshold. He likes some integrity, so we thought. A types of people kind of thing could work, though, there are things like that outside the box of just him if he can think of them. I don't know how he'll have much experience to draw on if he just looks at the app long enough to make the advert, though. Fingers crossed.

Oh, top of page. Wow

A few years ago I'd have said he'd have made a 'Sexy Internet Dating - Tinder Edition'. But idk now.

Phil has chat logs/why I was a weird kid etc, so an advert works well with something already established. Louise met her boyfriend on Tinder so that makes sense - and Louise is pretty open about dating and sex so even if she hadn't met him it would still be natural for her.

Dan - I can't see what he could do. Maybe an ISG? But that is VERY specific. He could try and copy Tinder memes on the app but that doesn't show the app off as somewhere to meet people? He could discuss his fave Tinder memes but again, same problem. I don't think Tinder would allow that. He could do a 'what NOT to do on a first date'? Like and include safety tips while also making it funny and promo-ing the app?

If he wants to keep his relationship status/sexuality ambiguous and a secret, and maintain his quality threshold and integrity AND be a good advert for Tinder it'll require a lot of effort. Saying that though, following his rebrand this might be an excellent time for him to actually make something like this?

His quality threshold and Tinder's.. like I don't think they'd be into him presenting their app as full of trolls lol, so maybe it's not complete bs to say he just has ideas right now (noncommittally) since they haven't been approved yet (and may not be)? And I guess I'm as confused about his content as he is since the idea of him doing a Types Of people vid didn't really occur to me since he seems to have moved on from/outgrown that kind of stuff. Hmmmm yup idk.
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

I would suggest that he might do a video on "the difficulties of dating" that would be relatable, and might even pull the wool over some peoples eyes. Dan spent most of his teen years in relationships (before the drop off when he met Phil hmmmmmmm suspicious indeed) so saying he's unlucky with girls would be quite a lie. Honestly, if he did a video topic on dating than I imagine it to be quite disingenuous, in some way or another.

It could feature a dating story from his teen years then a bullshit conclusion like " well young people don't have to go through my pain because there's an app for that ha ha". If he happened to choose the "I struggle with dating right now" route then I imagine that would dampen many people's phan spirits. Unless he actually does something creative for a change then I can see it being a weird or disappointing video.

I second the "I love them".

things that are notable:
- phil's profile picture, how adorable. also a splingey fringe. i approve
- phil texting "wtf". can this be counted as swearing? can this be part of his kind-of-rebrand into a more mature phil that's got more to him than just being an angel bean? either way, i approve as well.

Not sure if that's legitimately as adorable as I feel it is or if I'm just so deep in the trashcan at this point that silly texting between them seems cute to me.

I probably wouldn't use the word 'adorable' in this case, but I do think that the world would be a better place if everyone had someone to exchange silly massages with.

Oh please let it go, Phil, the cringe plus the pretence in the Sims, it's putting me off them both :wtf: (feeling a bit meh in general lately, the bs vibe is a bit strong for me).

If Depz are every strapped for cash can they please release a book with domestic text messaged and unseen selfies and candids of each other? I promise I'll actually buy that one.

Is it just me or is this the kind of conversations you have when you have nothing to talk about? Using "yeah, wtf, idk" kind of language to fill silence (they gotten to the point they just text each other mindlessly because they speak so much??). I shouldn't be over-analyzing text messages but I just think it's cute and find meaning in nothing.

Texting... yesss this is what I signed up for. It was one of my fave pages in tabinof (second the book filled with texts, I'd fucking live for that). I remember a similar convo in TABINOF about weird emojis, feeling a bit sad to be away from one another but have no convo starters perhaps? ;) Also, Phil sounds like me when I text oops.

As soon as I read "wtf" I knew twitter would be on the "oHmyGOD phil is so innocent and he sWORE?!?" and I sadly wasn't proven wrong. Honestly waiting for that steady rebrand to hit us all, he's been wanting to rebrand for even longer than Dan since a 2012-ish liveshow, so I'm hoping he can get around to it soon.

BTW: Not saying he wants to change his content or swear all the time, I believe him in the fact that he doesn't want to swear for the lil kids watching his channel, and respect him for that - but people being able to see that he's not a child would be v much appreciated tbh).

I actually know one of the inventors of Tinder and they are encouraging people to tell their stories etc. if they've had successful relationships through the app. They don't like the "hookup app" thing they have been getting lately and want to be competitive with apps like Plenty of Fish and Bumble. They also see it as them not being taken seriously as a dating app. That is probably why they've been reaching out to youtubers for spons. That is probably why they rejected Tom's sketch.

I think a video like "types of people on tinder" (like someone else said) is much more likely than him talking about a failed dating experience. But who knows. According to my family friend I think they sold the company or lost creative control to a corporation or something.

Interesting, thanks for this insight. Still seems totally irrelevant for Phil to spon it, or Dan even though his video might be good. Louise would be better, though she just might not want to.

I liked Phil's vid despite it being a bit of an odd combination. And am curious to see what Dan will come up with.

Louise has already done a Tinder spon vid.

Ah, I forgot that video. I think I did see it when she posted it. There's lots to like about Phil's video, but it doesn't sit right with me and even with how funny he made it I don't think I can watch beyond the intro again.

LOVE Tom Holland! If you don't know him yet, you will soon as he's the new Spider-Man. He's got a great personality and is an AMAZING talent (he was one of the original Billy's from the Billy Elliot musical). Let's just say, Spider-Man can really werk it!

He's also got a best friend relationship that rivals deppy—his best friend Harrison travels with him and is his personal assistant on his movies to keep him grounded with all the new fame. It's really sweet.

Seeing as theres a brief period of silence rn, I thought I'd indulge in my curiosity again.

I was wondering what collabs with other youtubers (with Dan and Phil) y'all hate/dislike. Whether it's becuase you don't like the people in it, you find the content of the video cringeworthy, or just find it dull and don't want to rewatch it.

To spurr your memories, here's a vague list of Youtubers who they've collabed with in recent years (AKA: After 2012-ish) but feel free to talk about any older youtuber collabs they did:

Carrie Hope Fletcher, Alex Day (removed but thought I'd mention him), Louise Pentland, Casper Lee, Joe Sugg, PewDiePie, PJ, Chris Kendall, Hazel Hayes, NerdyNummies, Tyler Oakley, Jim Chapman, Jack and Dean, charlieissocoollike, Alfie Deyes, Shawna, Tomska (rejects ofc), catrific, Marzia, Stawburry17, JacksGap, and Bryony.

I might have missed some names, but at any rate I'd be interested to hear peoples opinions!

I got into Deppy through Carrie Hope Fletcher's 12 Days of Christmas collabs. I don't watch her anymore, but I'd rewatch those videos (including the deleted one with Dan). They're pretty fun. On the other hand, I love Charlie, and have been watching him since before I got into Deppy, but his collab with them is so so awkward :(

I rewatch Joe Sugg's YouTube Whispers videos (the ones with deppy and louise ofc) regularly. They're some of the funniest collabs I've seen. I also like the gaming channel collabs with PDP and Marzia, and their videos with PJ (some more than others). Collabs with Louise are also hilarious and I endorse them 100%.

As for the rest ... I never liked Dan's collabs with Alex Day, even before the abuse scandal. I was subscribed to Alex at the time but still considered him a colossal dick. Go figure. Also, I used to rewatch the videos with Jack and Finn a lot, because of Dan being #sexuallyfrustrated.

Don't really care for any of the other collabs tbh. I've seen the videos, but they don't do much for me (other than enjoying seeing Dan blush so much in his collabs with Tyler). I think it's because I'm subscribed to very few youtubers other than deppy, pj, louise and charlie. And even then, I only watch deppy's videos regularly.

I can't remember every one that I've seen (and I'm sure there's some I've missed/skipped, which I tend to do if I'm not familiar with the person they're collabing with and the video title doesn't pique my interest), but off the top of my head:

Shawna: All moral/political opinions aside (which I wasn't even aware of when I first watched their collabs), I didn't really enjoy the 2 collabs on Shawna's channel because I felt like they lacked energy and direction. I remember watching it and feeling like they were kind of awkward, there was no chemistry, and in general didn't feel drawn into the videos. I think it must've been the editing though, because, weirdly enough, I thought the video on Phil's channel was pretty good. I had watched Shawna's first, and went into Phil's not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. As far as I'm aware, it was the same recording session, and was even the same topic, yet I enjoyed Phil's and was bored with Shawna's.

charlieissocoollike: I didn't dislike the collab I saw with him, per se, I just found it low on energy and probably wouldn't watch it again. I'm not sure if they have more than one collab, but in the one I saw they built like a little clay unicorn. Really cute concept, but ended up being lackluster (and I don't mean because of their poor deformed creation lol).

catrific: It depends on the video for things involving Cat. Some, like Bucket of Doom and Noise-Cancelling Headphones, were really funny. Others (usually the more vlog-like ones) don't hold my interest.

Fantastic Foursome: I wasn't around in the really early days, so I don't have any sentimental attachments to the Fantastic Foursome. In general, the old stuff they collabed on wasn't my style. The more current stuff with PJ, though, I enjoy.

Everything else I either enjoyed or haven't seen. Shout out to Louise, NerdyNummies, Jack & Dean, and Tomska for having particularly outstanding collabs that I definitely rewatch.

How much I like the other people in the collab doesn't seem to much affect my liking of the collab, as long as the collab's good. For example I don't really like Alfie, but I'll happily watch his collab with Deppy over and over as it cracks me up. I enjoy most of their collabs to be honest - it's fun to see them bounce off other people.

Here are a few collabs I don't like as much and never rewatch, but they're still fine:
crabstickz, Jim Chapman, Jack and Dean, catrific, Strawburry17, JacksGap, and (unpopular opinion time) Dan's awkward moments collab with Louise (the other Louise collabs are good though)

And here are the ones I absolutely hate and you couldn't ever force me to rewatch them:

Thinking off the top of my head, I HATED the ones with Catrific. I can't stand her though; something about her just pisses me off and I've never put my finger on it. I also can't stand Alfie so I hated that one too.

I didn't really like the one Phil did with Dan and Louise on his channel. Nothing against the three of them, I think all three of them are hilarious and have great chemistry and I'd love to see MORE videos by them. Just something about it underwhelmed me, I don't think I particularly liked the game they played. I loved the video they did on Louise's channel, so I know it's more than likely just that specific game.

Also I can't bring myself to watch Knightmare again. I was so happy when they made it because I've been subbed to Ashens since 2006, I LOVED Emma Blackery intensely, and I obviously loved D&P, and I liked the TV show. But something about it strikes me as super awkward? Idk, I don't think Emma, Dan, and Phil work? I think Ashens, Dan, and Phil work better (as seen in Who Stole My Sofa?) - so maybe I'd have liked it more if Emma had been the one playing?

[offtopic]I know I've fallen too far into them again when I had a dream that they came out as engaged and it was AWESOME [/offtopic]

Interesting! I'm actually the complete opposite - I find the Not Worth Watching on Louise's channel kind of awkward and semi-unwatchable as Phil seemed to get a bit abandoned by the wayside due to the dominance of Dan and Louise, whereas I really enjoyed the Obama Llama video as Phil in particular seemed more relaxed and I enjoyed how hilariously competitive Louise and Dan got with each other.

In terms of collabs I don't enjoy:
- I've never rewatched the Caspar vids or the Connor vids, as they felt stilted to me
- Same goes for the Phil/Jim collabs and the charlieissocoollike collabs

Ones I do enjoy:
- the whisper challenge vid (and bloopers) on Joe Sugg's channel, which I find hilarious
- their vids with Louise (although not so much Not Worth Watching)
- their vids with Tyler Oakley (I know some people find Phil's vid a bit awkward but I don't, I actually think Tyler is really good at making his co-hosts feel at ease and bringing them out of their shells, and I don't think Phil comes across as awkward in those vids)
- I don't mind Phil's videos with Hazel and Cat - don't love them, but definitely prefer them to the ones with Jim, Caspar or Connor
- I also quite enjoy their vids with PJ, although if I'm honest they're not my favourites ever
