I am still speechless from this whole video. He absolutely nailed it. I was scared I was going to cringe thought the whole thing but i didn't. My jaw actually dropped at both the shipping and sexuality part. Also really happy but surprised there was no mention of existential crisises! Is he finally dropping that?! All and all, great video!!
I guess this is about the friend line? I'm seeing anti phans are rejoicing that he "denied Phan" or something. I'm a little confused, is that why? If so, I didn't really take it as anything? How else would he have introduced Phil? It doesn't seem like the ultimate anti phan proof to me, but hey. ᕕ╏ ͡ ▾ ͡ ╏┐RachelPhan wrote:A question to my fellow shippers out there, how does this video make you feel? Coming out as bi?or gay? Or furry (obvs)?
I'm still on Team "Anti Label Phan", so that's what I also took the sexuality bit as.
Alright friends I had a bit of a freakout over this and another screenshot of their empty desk because I was like "MOVING OUT????? WHAT?" But then I slowed down and realized they were probably working on book stuff and had to move it. I hardly ever comment, but rest assured I read every single post. I am a professional lurker.
How he approached the 'shipping' thing in this doesn't sway me one way or another on the subject of Phan being real or not. The reality of what they actually are has nothing to do with the fact that a huge portion of his/their fanbase is fixated on their private relationship, whatever it is. They're shipped, they know it, we know it. Saying that's what's getting him views and being another white guy shipped with his friend isn't a comment on the truth of whether they're really together or not. I don't see any denial or confirmation there, just a statement of what other people focus on with their relationship. If phanti blogs want to mangle that into their own narrative, go nuts.

That could certainly be it, so I'm just going to hope it's true and that no one is moving out.lilMango wrote:Alright friends I had a bit of a freakout over this and another screenshot of their empty desk because I was like "MOVING OUT????? I never mind about them using friend to refer to each other - I refer to my husband as my best friend. Before we were married I used to describe him to people I worked with as my flatmate.
However, this was a bit too blatantly "we're not together" for me to completely ignore it. I'm on the fence tbh.

Oh shit I didn't think they were gonna move out until I saw this... on one hand dan's room and the kitchen still looks normal? And Phil's bedside tables might be empty because they've been analysed in the past?stella2000 wrote:Yikessss this seems completely plausible but I don't want to admit it to myself as their flat seems like homeTicia wrote:So, any moving out theories here?

Dumb Q but what do you mean by studio? Like it was filmed in a studio? I don't really recognise the room, it could be their gaming room from a different angle... if it is it's very bare

What if it's just Phil who's moving out... he's getting a chihuahua/husky mix and leaving Danyul behind

Edit:
Ya stuff like this is what makes me lean towards the skeptical they're-prob-not-together side. I wish they were but I don't think they arebantstrash wrote:I never mind about them using friend to refer to each other - I refer to my husband as my best friend. ppl already said what i was gonna say
but imma post anyway
(see it rhymes)
At the same time, as you said, it was one line. It's a 2 minute "rap" song. There's little to go off of. The line references the root of his popularity (in addition to being a white male) and likens Phan to other popular YT ships. I'm not gonna take that as a denial. It's gonna take way more than that to make me feel doubtful.

It was kind of a slap in the face to those who ship Phan, in the sense that he reduced it to people shipping him with his friend because they think it's "kawaii". Like boy, if you don't get the fuck... There's more to it than that. He knows there's more to it than that. He knows we know there's more to it than that. Imo I see the sexuality part as him saying he doesn't want to be put in a box and he's intentionally ambiguous (to us anyway) lol.
The "it's hard to put you in a box when you keep it so blurry" and the "society's comprehension" part....to me it seems like he's roasting his audience a bit with this one too
EDIT: I agree with fancybum. People need to calm down lol

Like everything Dan does, it doesn't really confirm anything one way or another in my opinion. This was also kind of a roast of his fans and the way they view him and Phil, I think.

Also there's more to their ship because of them if we're going to get technical but whatever
Some comments are like 'whoa he just came out'. Like... I guess he came out as not straight, but that's not news around these parts. Still cool it's on his main channel for the world to see, though. (DINOF has been pretty sparse with male mentions, right? The anime video was a step up and now here we are ). Seems like another 'fuck off with the labels pls' hint.blueapple_x wrote:Imo I see the sexuality part as him saying he doesn't want to be put in a box and he's intentionally ambiguous (to us anyway) lol.

when he went about shipping. OH NO YOU DIDN'T. Why Daniel why? So many broken hearts
Sexuality, I think he's more on the pansexual side (not straight, not gay, "furry"). I can go to sleep in peace now, wow Dan, wow.

Where's the fire emoji when I need it? This'll do instead.
I'm surprised at a lot of you guys being surprised at the fact he mentioned phan/sexuality! Those seemed like obvious lines to me, and likely the ones that would have the most positive response, so why not lay it in there. It's 2016 and he's for it.
In fact, I made my own mental checklist of all the things I was sure he would have to mention, and I would say I nailed about 80% of the video before even watching it.
(I'm proud of myself, actually.)
The thing that most surprised me was that family line, to be honest. THAT's what seemed to be the most explicitly stated thing throughout the video to me. I was more sure he'd avoid anything family related, but nah, he covered it.
Is it weird that I feel a since of pride for him doing this? Probably. Everyone thought it would be awful but so many people are just laughing and cheering him on, and he really didn't shy away from much at all. So props to you, Dan.
Also worth mentioning, nothing in this video changed how I feel about Phan at all (which has always been "probably together, but who knows for sure".) Calling him a friend is nothing out of ordinary and fit with the line. In fact, when I watched it I was thinking of how it was a good way to word it so that if they did perhaps come out together some point in the future, it was a nice ambiguous way to word it to where it wouldn't be a void statement in the future. Together or not, people indeed ship him with his friend.
The masturbation part was surprisingly explicit and made me laugh for a good 5 minutes. Does it imply singledom? Maybe? But unless I grew up in a weird place I was always under the impression that that just implies to most guys, single or not.

It wasn't cringey!!!! Yes!!! Basically I took this as confirmation that he is not straight- why would he say it's blurry if he were straight. Like I know he was saying it's blurry to his audience, but why would a straight guy address sexual ambiguity like that. I already believed he wasn't straight but it's still kinda exciting that he 'came out'. He really knows the phandom. Damn that J Law vs. Evan P. thing was apt for the sexuality discussions people have. I'd say I about 20% believe in Phan now.

I still can't fully take in what I just watched.
It will be interesting in the liveshow tomorrow on how much he talks about. I am hoping he doesn't just laugh it all all (like he sort of tried to do in the description box).
Completely sums up all my feelings about that line perfectly.

And you guys are scaring me about phan. I'm too invested and I'm also getting a weird feeling. If it turns out they are not together the amount of shipbaiting they have been doing in the last year will definitely not sit well with me.
