Well my predictions/hopes for potential acts they were gonna show we're fucking wrong. :sideeye:

Me: Oh, they're in another YouTubers React To Kpop? Seventeen better be in there somewhere.
Video: EXO, I.O.I. and Keith Ape.
Me: Bye.

Come on, what's a girl gotta do to have her boys react to her hyped semi-bias group hm? Like seriously, EXO again? Snooze, we know about them already.

Guess Catallena remains the best thing they've reacted to. My icon approves.

I prefer them keeping their mouth shut if they're just gonna be ignorant. Kpop Twitter dragged Dan for that and rightfully so. Comments like that ignore the hard work of the many self producing idols out there and make it seem like Western pop is some wholesome beacon of ~real~ music while in reality it's just as manufactured as the industry in SK just in different ways.

Oh damn that last sentence, I agree so much. The Fine Bros make some pretty boring choices for what they're gonna show but I'm a bit  over people acting like the Korean music industry is just the same thing over and over again. It isn't any worse than Western music in that regard. If your entire view on Kpop is based on these video, maybe stop.

Nail polish and gender norms things, I wish fans who want Dan to break gender norms would support people who already do because they want to and because they feel passionate about the cause instead. This isn't helping or representing anyone imo.

Also, like, doing what your audience wants you to is kinda a part of their job? It's meeting demand. Like, we want them to do Undertale again, too, and there'd be a hell to pay if they didn't - so at this point, we can hardly know how they feel about it. They might hate doing it, might think it's too hard with all the voices and editing and relatively low views, and yet - people who interact with them the most got hooked. It's a smaller scale with the nail polish stuff, but a similar line of just your basic rules of the game. Reading your audience and figuring out what they might enjoy is just relatively reasonable, imo, like the sort of market testing they did with the pastel edits idea.
My point was more about Dan casually painting his nails all the time than him just making a video about it. I can understand viewers demanding a video, but demanding him to express himself in a certain way is a bit uncalled for in my opinion.
I know he's good at avoiding it, and I'm not worried for him emotionally, I'm worried about why this is even a point that I have to make.

Okay, I know this is completely unrelated to the point, but, do people actually want a video of Dan painting his nails? Is that what we've come to? I always assumed when people say "paint your nails!" they just want him to post a photo of it. If Dan only uploads one video next month, and it's of him painting his nails, I'm going to be unhappy for multiple reasons

Super excited for the new dapgo video! I always love seeing them outside. (especially phil, the sun + his eyes.. )
the thought of deppy in 2017 makes me really excited for some reason, maybe its just the idea of them having a regular uploading schedule again that makes me so happy, but sadly for me their videos dont have the same warm feeling they used to anymore. I miss the old, more unprofessional format of vids. I guess there's no turning back now.

So sick of React videos. I never found them that interesting to begin with, I'm capable of reacting my own way to things instead of watching someone else do so. Idk, I just never saw the point.

I'm kind of indifferent on the nail polish topic. I agree with what others said and don't have a whole lot to add. If Dan wants to paint his nails, cool. If not, that's cool too. I don't know how I'd feel if a whole video of it was made - remember that shade he threw a while back where he said that YouTubers just make videos of dying their hair and call it a day or something? Reminds me of that.

Anyway, can't wait for Pokemon Go! :yippee: I've been playing literally all day send help I'm obsessed

What comments are you referring to? Are you referring to those who drag them for their upload schedule? For example, their Undertale video has a lot of "gonna wait another 2 months for the next video." coz if you are, twitter Phandom started doing that as well. Before, twitter replies were mostly funny/rude/crazy. Now, they bet when the next upload will be.

About the ytr vid
I think that react videos doesn't do justice to kpop in general. It's 2016, and there have been tons of kpop reacts on fine bros, and I think the 'I find this weird/ how is this a thing' is getting a bit old (and kinda offensive? ) now.

When I say offensive, I mean something like, remember how the phandom hates journalist who write articles about how phandom are weird for liking this youtubers thing they don't understand? It is kinda similar with this whole react video, it's just how westerners can't fathom how kpop fans like this kind of thing. Or at least, that's the impression I get from the Kpop reacts series

did anyone even understand what I'm saying?

I also felt that the react to that khiphop song is not something they should do, especially when there is only one video of khiphop and there's nothing else to compare it to, because it gives bad impression on the genre, as if all khiphop songs are like that and trying to be edgy or cool or something.

I am not a kpop fan (never stan anyone, never keep up with anything) but I have listen to some khiphop (and I have the album 2002 by Gary in my phone), and there are many good ones out there.

About Deppy in that video
I love Phil openly admitting he is not into kpop.
I kinda understand what Dan meant he says he cannot keep up with the genre in general. I myself only checks it out if someone recs me something.

Finally got around to watching the ISG and I liked it. A few moments made me chuckle, and I felt like Dan came across as pretty genuine in this vid. I liked the change in video format with the shots. Its funny how much his audience trolls him and calls him weird and stuff like that- this struck me in particular with the 'normie' question where the boy asks how he has any friends. What has also become apparent to me is that Dans vids are s lot less smooth and more awkward than they used to be. I did like this video, but I swear that his video making has become much less confident. Sometimes his humor just isn't as crisp and biting as it could be ( idk if anyone else feels this) Like the impromptu skit about death wasn't rather awkward and unfunny

Yeah the entire concept of those videos is messy. And the longer it continues the worse it gets. It's often the same people in these videos so you'd think they would know better by now or at least give better reactions towards the actual song/MV/concept but it's still just a bunch of 'Omg music that isn't in English and a ~weird~ music video :O' with some dumbfucks always feeling the need to compare the act they're seeing to some Western artist. 'IT'S THE KOREAN JUSTIN BIEBER.' Fuck off mate. And I'm just bored of the artist choices, like they've had EXO 3 times now already I think. So many good (rookie) acts out there and you still go for SMEnt's default boy group. And just throwing a hiphop act in the mix is unfair to that genre.

i understand and i'm completely with you on this one.

i'm extremely new to youtube content in general and i didn't even know that "react to k-pop" was actually a thing. literally, wtf? it's just another genre of music. to have it singled out as something weird or quirky for people to react to is really weird -- do the fine bros have youtubers react to one direction or old vids of the backstreet boys too? why is this dubious privilege reserved for such ~strange~ or ~exotic~ music as kpop? i'm vaguely offended that they did more than one of these.

other uninformed opinions! :D
isg - never was into this format, a little too old for the serious advice, found it entertaining but probably won't rewatch. however, did have a mini silent freakout on the subway when i saw phil's tweet for the first time. i am such a sucker for candid moments. :')
nail painting - i don't really understand phandom's interest in dan painting his nails (i don't really think it's particularly revolutionary or gender-role breaking considering the many mainstream musicians, artists, etc who have done this before him) but it seems as if when any fandom latches onto something, it's hard to let go.
pokego - someone earlier categorized these as a mini day in the life and i think that's why i'm so thirsty for this content. /o\ i would love love love for them to do more day in the life of vids but in the meantime, i'll take these. my fingers are also crossed that they'll do an australian version of pokego!

question for anyone who has already experienced undertale: do you know how much more of the game d&p have to get through? are they 30% done? 60%? 10%, taking into account dan's insistence on replaying the content in effort not to miss anything?

If they continue uploading 45 min/1h videos they should finish it in about 4/5 more episodes. So if we are lucky and get at least a video per month it should be over before christmas.

Yup, a fucking year to play a game that most people completed in 2 or 3 days.

I will say around 65% Without spoiling anything, after this arc ends, there are two more arcs, and then a final one to get the true ending.

Considering it is Deppy, the arcs will not end in one episode, so I am looking at at least 5 more episodes of Undertale. Ha. Ha.

A bit off topic but, Has anyone else noticed the fact that there has been two main channel videos since the anouncement of their second book and they haven't even talked about it in the videos. Dan didn't even link to it in the description of his video but Phil did. Though I can imagine that people who are only casual views who read phil's description might be a bit confused as to what 'preorder dapgo' is. I was actually expecting them to say something about it, I was a bit surprised when they didn't. But I guess dapgo is something thats not near as important to sponsor constantly since it's just a picture book? I don't really mind ether way but it's just interesting to see.

If he does do it (and I believe if he does it'll be mainly because of the phandom), it won't necessarily be "cracking". I think it's probably something he's willing to do, but he'll only do it because the phandom talks about it so much, if that makes sense. Obviously people tell them to do things, and a lot of those things they aren't willing to do. I think for Dan, painting his nails might be something he is willing to do.
Agree with this partly. Dan keeps answering questions in live shows about painting his nails so he seems a little interested. Don't think he would do something he isn't interested in at all.

A lot of you say the phandom should stop pressuring Dan and not make him do something he doesn't want. Dan himself keeps answering questions about painting nails. He's not new to live shows. He has lots of experience about how to deal with his audience. If he didn't want to do it he would haru the painting nails questions. If he didn't care and didn't have interest he would haru the questions. If he felt pressure he would tell people to stop 'attacking him' or say a speech about why he isn't going to do it like his speech about getting a dog.

Painting nails isn't one of his sensitive subjects so it's not going to hurt his feelings for kids to tell him to do it. He doesn't need to be defended. This is said from the point of view of not caring at all if he paints his nails or not.
confusedpanda wrote:A bit off topic but, Has anyone else noticed the fact that there has been two main channel videos since the anouncement of their second book and they haven't even talked about it in the videos.
This is something I only thought of now but what if didn't care about doing a 2nd book? We know Youtubers have 2 book contracts. TABINOF was Deppy's bible that if they died from a meteor it would be what they left behind. Maybe Deppy only cared about TABINOF but since they had to make a 2nd book they didn't make it a big deal and just filled it with pictures. TATINOF was also supposed to be accompanying TABINOF and DAPGO is all pictures from TATINOF.

Or maybe they are just focusing on promoting the Australian tour and will promote DAPGO later so all this talk is useless.

I liked ISG it's not my favorite but it had its moments. I don't mind Dan having advice but it's tricky how to talk about it without sounding preachy. And you have to actually do research in subjects you might not understand. Like the HPV part. I am one that doesn't think it was vodka he drank. One because just shots of vodka is wrong lol. But no really when he drank afterwords he didn't do the open the mouth breath fire thing. And second he is on some strong antibiotics and while it wouldn't hurt him it does make the drugs be less effective and I am sure he wouldn't want to mess with getting better right before he left.

About Dans nails. I wonder if he is just talking some extra vitamins or the steroids can make your nails grow faster. I do think Dan has a little interest in the pastel look, he has mentioned it a couple times now.

react video- well I'm done with them just like Phil but I really enjoyed watching Phil have options and watching him be like really again.

Super excited for Pokemon go

As for what's in store for the future. I hope we get the Live Shows back. And they can re focus of whatever they have plans for next. But I am optimistic. I know I have said this before but I have been so surprised by how many things Dan and Phil have done they have always found new and interesting ways to share their creativity with us. And I have no clue what will be next but I think it will be somthing that we all go OMG this is really cool. Not sure if it will be with BBC but I do think they have somthing up their sleeve.

Sorry for my ramble it's late and I'm on my phone but I figured if I didn't get my thoughts out now you would be on a whole nother thread.

Love and Hugs

I'm a strong supporter of let people be them, live their life, don't force your expectations on them. disclaimer:in no way I do think they are cinnamon buns that are forced by the phandom, they are two adults that can say no but still I agree with all of what's been said before.

ytreact: not even gonna bother with it, in se I don't understand the appeal of a react video and also I'm annoyed by the fine bros decision to propose the same type of videos every year to the same people. If you see an edit of only deppy parts please link it to me.

yt comments: I simply tend to ignore them or take it not seriously, not to say that some interesting things aren't written but in general don't take it seriously.

dapgo&video: I think that the target of the book are people really into deppy so they would in some way already know about the book and preordened it. For now their focus is the australian tour, then hopefully the eu one (even if I have my doubts  ) and then spon the doc and spon the book.

$$: question: how do yt knows your age if you don't have an account?
Anyway I think that lots of people lie about their age when they make a yt account.

Sitc award: It may be because I'm not a fan of lots of the british yt but not only I'm happy for deppy I'm also .

after the tour: I expect an initial return to the golden age where they uploaded like crazy, as told by those who witnessed such miracle, on dapgm then they are gonna slow and take other projects. Not good for me but good for them.

and now gotta go because a last minute call cut this national holiday day in half for me.

As far as the actual potential video goes, you know, we'll see. He's good at expressing discomfort in a way that lets those paying attention know. (Remberer Glozelle?) So I think if he super-secretly hates the idea of doing the thing he'll be doing mostly because, as was pointed out, he kept answering questions about it and never said he doesn't want to do & therefore kept increasing demand for it... *Oh, well*, you know?

(Just remember the amount of times his second to last ls was spammed with "what the hell even is your sexuality" questions. He's capable of avoiding stuff if he really wants to.)

My best guess is that if he does it, it'll be a part of the pastel edits tag. Or for a Twitter picture, yeah, maybe, but either way, somehow, a click-for-your-enjoyment exchange, which changes the rules for me. I definitely never read this as the phandom trying to affect what Dan does with his nails in his personal life, but the phandom wanting something for the phandom, even if it's just cause it'd look cute.

Which, you know, is not much different from everyone screaming for him to burn his hair straighteners. Because nail polish on men really isn't a revolutionary thing, and while yeah, it's nice to know he doesn't mind & doesn't necessarily consider it a big deal for a dude to wear it, that path was paved for him already, so it's a relatively smooth walk.
