I'm glad I'm not the only one who watched that and kept relating it to Dan and Phil! When watching I definitely had one of those moments where I wondered if maybe I'm too obsessed and just relate anything and everything back to them so knowing it wasn't just me who saw it with that vid makes me feel a little better lol.

They really are describing the anti D&P at some points though aren't they? Particularly in the first part where they talk about not being viewed as being a single entity and still being able to go places alone without someone automatically wondering where the other is. And the bit about having separate working lives.

D&P are so much one entity they are one entry in a vlogger award contest despite the fact they actually have separate main channels. Although I suppose speaking of those main channels Dan may have appeared on amazingphil this year as many times as he has uploaded to his own channel. At this point even calling them frequent collaborators is understating it. And of course the have the gaming channel, the books, the merch and the tour all together.
And do you think they can fly solo in their personal lives without people asking about the other? My mind immediately went to that old vlog with Anthony and Kalel where they went to visit Dan when Phil was away and Anthony's talking in the taxi over that it's weird to have Dan without Phil. I bet the other can't go to the bathroom without someone asking where they are at.

But honestly, this is a really interesting thing to think about. How does their "together" (for lack of a better word) branding affect them IRL? Both they themselves and how their friends/colleagues/people in general treat them.

For a closeted couple, I'd argue that it helps them because it gives them a cover to be together. All you have to do is look at the number of antiphan and phan agnostics we have to realize that Dan and Phil are "allowed" to spend all their time together and have people still argue it means nothing as long as they're professionally linked, whereas if they never went for joint branding (especially now that the radio show is dead) it would be at a point where people would probably find it much stranger that they still live together and are never away from each other for more than a few days.

it was but as a joke (the joke was the thing). I think that's why it was so refreshing - that no one believed so there was no drama but everyone was joking together about it.
