The things that you learn here
princenagi wrote:*raises hand* as your local actual furry i'd like to shed some light on what the subculture actually means as all this bestiality talk is a bit concerning - there seems to be a huge misunderstanding here
'furry' is an umbrella term, it can mean anything from wanting to wear a fursuit (completely non-sexually too ! some people just like animals), believing you were an animal in a past life and therefore feeling a strong connection to them (ex. a dog or fox or lion even !), or even just enjoying content w/anthropomorphic characters (ex. sonic the hedgehog, animaniacs, zootopia)
the word 'furry' also is used to describe an animal that is anthropomorphic and also extends to like anime catgirls or humans w/animal features (yes, garfield is a furry and so is tony the tiger)
i am in the category of just really loving animals and by extension media w/anthro characters which by the way doesn't even mean animals that are upright and talking - an animal just has to take on human characteristics to be considered anthropomorphic !
so it doesn't really have anything to do with sexuality thats completely irrelevant and yes it does overlap for some people but its usually that they find the human characteristics in an animal sexually appealing so really, there is no need to discuss whether someone's going to yiff their dog or if they shouldn't be allowed to have a dog if they're a furry - thats a bit offensive in itself to even consider honestly
but yeah i hope this helped ?? being a furry just means you like animals that talk for a lot of people or that you simply just had a crush on fox mccloud or something no need for concern !

All of this. Assuming that they are together, the questionable nature of how they met and one or both of them being closeted from family/non-internet friends was probably the reason they were never very forthcoming about their relationship in the first place. Looking back at the old Formspring answers, ambiguity about their relationship was there from the very beginning and hasn't gone away since. On the "age" topic: The circumstances of how they met read very dodgy imo. The fact is that Dan was an 18 year old boy who just finished school and was in a gap year, not sure what to do with his life (and from tabinof we know he wasn't particularly self efficient yet, remember the grocery store freak out? And that was even later).
Phil was 22(?) and had a uni degree, had lived away from home, had already gone through that first seperation from your parents that makes you a lot more independent and had a large (at the time) youtube following that Dan clearly admired.
And they get friendly and flirty in social media and Phil invites Dan to his house for several nights when his parents are gone.
There's nothing you can say that makes this sound less dodgy in my mind. Even the argument that they skyped a lot before kind of turns into more dodgy details when you see that picture of them skyping where Dan has his hand under his shirt.
The only reason i don't side-eye Phil is their relationship today. Dan seems like a self aware person who thinks a lot about their issues and where they come from and i think if their relationship had been questionable in the past he would realize that now and probably resent Phil. And i can't imagine them working together in that case.
As it is, i think the power difference was never a big deal in their relationship and Phil might have been careful to make sure Dan didn't feel inferior or intimidated.
(And if we assume they are together, and voldy is real (shudder) then that would be proof for me that there was no problem with power. Dan was even the first to kiss Phil.)
This. I can see Dan preferring shorter-term contracts, and Phil maybe being a little bit more relaxed about it.swofro wrote:Re channelfip, I think Dan claiming DaPG is a very smart move, because it prevents them from taking away more money, I guess. Phil is too smart to make a mistake of not reading his contract properly, so I am with team waiting for his contract to end. It's just a waiting game now.
MAYBE THEY ARE JOINING GLEAM! Could you imagine the uproar if that happened.IckleMissMayhem wrote:This. That said, I swear to all that is holy within the Phandom, if they wait it out just to sign up with another company I expect demand one of you VIP TATINOF-ers take in a rolled-up newspaper and bop them both on the head with it.
Maybe we'll get some tweets sometime soon. Why I bother getting up in the morning when my three fave guys (my partner comes before D&P, honest!) are all GMT-5, I don't know...!

But anway, Dan claiming DAPG is very smart especially as they do most of their #SPON through DAPG (And they have got the contact now to not worry about not getting them Social Point Spon) . They wouldn't want CF to get that sponsorship money.
for them True, deppy joining channelflip must've happend after they left my damn channel, which according to their last sap update, was dec 2012, that means they joined cf early 2013.phamnotof wrote:re: the being a buy one get one kind of a deal: now, I'd agree with that, but under the assumption that these contracts would have been signed in 2012 as people have been suggesting - that's a whole thing entirely. They were barely ever on each other's channels compared to now, Dan had all those "we're not a double act we're two idviduals who sometimes work together" moments (and I'm making him sound far less angry than he did, but then it was 2012, so you can imagine) - so it would hardly be a surprise to me if they negotiated their contracts separately. Dan'd have also been the most subscribed channel then, so there's another reason why his contract might have been better.
Or it's a matter of Phil being signed for a longer time than Dan, since he's been on YT longer. Idk. But if they signed the same contracts at the same time, it wouldn't make much sense for one to end before the other.
Same. I think if I had to spend time with someone for that long on a bus, I might kill them. If they are still not sick of each other after this, I don't see when they would be.hunnyftw wrote:karma_yeah, than you for that spreadsheet. We all knew that the US tour is ginormous, but somehow seeing all these numbers really brought it home to me. How the hell will they cope with it?
I can't imagine it not taking its toll on their health and relationship with each other. If by the end of it they don't get completely sick of each other to me it will be set in stone that their relationship is just UNbreakable![]()
I find the whole ChannelFlip situation fascinating really, and can't wait till we get more information and better understanding of it. For now I just try to have complete faith in boys and their ability to make smart business decisions. For all we know, they usually do. fingers crossed
Ohhh, you know, this makes sense at least as far as their separate channels go. If they offered (even yearly that would after that always be renewed) new contracts after the 1kk mark, Dan's would have run out this February, meaning he'd be free to do as he pleases. And DnPGames hit 1kk last March, so even if the same rules applied (they probably wouldn't), that yearly one would have ended as well by now.Catallena wrote:About Phil's contract. (Why the hell do I remember this??)
A few days after Phil hit the 1 million mark in 2013, a ChannelFlip employee by the name of Susi Weaver came over and gave him gifts in the form of lots of ice cream.
Phil tweeted about it:
And here's Susi Weaver's picture of the ice cream. Same date.
Before that she tweeted this:
Popular speculation at the time was that it was Phil who had to sign a new contract.
Now if Dan and Phil were both offered new contracts at the point they hit 1 million, Dan has already passed that date. If it was a 3 year contract, he'd be free to leave and do whatever he wanted. I'd keep an eye out on July, that would be when Phil's potential contract could be up.
Thanks for the information.phamnotof wrote:Ohhh, you know, this makes sense at least as far as their separate channels go. Hmm.
Interesting.

that's what I was wondering as well but didn't want to spell it outkarma_yeah wrote:When I was looking at their schedule I couldn't help but wonder about their sanity if they were giving themselves enough time

that's after the tour right? that's convenient, they will probs have more time to deal with legal shit then
do you all think this might have something to do with what Dan said about their plans for the rest of the year being 'up in the air'
(also i love how we all collectively remember the most random details and how that proves to be useful from time to time)
about deppy joining a proper talent agency*: i would love to see that happen, i'm all for seeing them go from youtube power couple to mainstream power couple
*ik channelflip is their network and not their management, i have a question though, could they leave channelflip and still be part of flipside? how would that work? what would change for them? i know what a network and a management do but it still seems very interconnected imo
