Then we went from macro/microphilia (which apparently Dan has brought up before) to pet play with that 'bad dog' comment aimed at Phil.

I liked the jumpscares, I'm glad Phil was able to get Dan once at least. He really is too obvious.

I made a post on tumblr earlier today that I am basically just gonna paste here, because tumblr is very transitory and the forum is very searchable and I think this is something I want to be able to find again in the coming months/years just to have a definite sign of when it felt like Phil's shift from reserved with Dan/within himself to - well, to the Phil we saw playing golf today.

I think in part [Phil seeming more laid back lately] is humor and general relaxation and in part he’s testing a lot of boundaries with Dan on camera, which is interesting because I don’t think Dan actually knows how to respond to Phil being sweet or cute with him in a way that there’s no immediate punchline back for. Like the card game part of the liveshow; Phil volunteering that he’d pick Dan as his sidekick, Phil volunteering what Dan does first thing in the morning (which is pick out clothes, which presumes that Phil is in there before Dan is wearing clothes in order to know that it’s what Dan does first). Plus: Phil shaking Dan and leaving his hands on Dan while he’s talking, Phil petting Dan’s shoulder saying his sweater feels like a teddy bear, Phil telling Dan to get cozy with the inflatable costume while Phil is basically snuggling it.

(Honorable mention examples: Phil talking about how much he paid for snacks at the movie and including that he paid for Dan’s, Phil talking about how they always get burgers for the Walking Dead premiere. Both of those seem like things he might have shared, but it would have been the isolated moment, the one bit of domestic cuteness we got the entire liveshow, with all other detail on lockdown. In this show, in this exchange between them, it felt like just things being shared with no consideration for how obvious it makes it that they do literally everything in their life together. Hence: not groundbreaking, but comfort.)

And in addition, things that don’t relate specifically to Dan but still seems like Dan floundered with and wasn’t sure how to react to: Phil denying that Sarah Michelle Gellar made teen!Phil quiver (Phil’s response to Dan saying that was: “Buffy. Just the show, in general.”) and Phil saying that Blade Runner was gonna give him more Ryan Gosling dreams.

None of these things are, imo, things that two years ago or even a year ago (as we come upon the cusp of the anniversary of our holy day, Halloween baking) Phil would have actually felt remotely comfortable doing or expressing on camera. So yeah, his humor itself is definitely ramping up to a new level of comfort but I think it’s far more interested all the other ways in which he’s become more laid back.

100% agreed, dizzy! Phil's becoming so much more relaxed and open (and honestly, some of the things he says are wild and I wouldn't even expect them from Dan's mouth) and I actually can't wait for 2018. You remember how late 2016 they seemed to be so openly affectionate around each other which just escalated throughout 2017? I feel like we're entering a whole new era and 2018 is gonna entail them just acting really comfy and sweet around each other and I can't wait.

I really liked the golf video. I'm so happy they did it, since gwf is probably my favorite series ever in dapg. (im so hungover right now that thinking is hard, so golf was perfect for thid morning).

I'm loving spooky week so far! I'm actually one of those people who like spooky themed games that aren't actually scary better than actual horror games so I'm perfectly happy with what we got so far. "Hide and Shriek" looked very cute and fun and that golfing video was everything I could've asked for. I watched it twice in a row last night and I rarely ever do that but it was so good. Still hoping for one real horror game for all you guys who want one.

(Great post, dizzy. Lately Phil reminds me a lot of his younger self to be honest. Just a more mature version of that kid.)

do you think this will continue, not just in keeping this level of comfort up but going even further to shake off the amazingphil persona a little? because i wonder if it's a conscientious change on phil's part to want to change his persona/branding slightly now that he's getting older or just a reflection on how comfortable he feels now that things seem a bit calmer in general (truth bombs game is out in the open, dan himself is opening up about a lot of things like his depression etc.).

i never used to be this into phil. i loved him but always felt like he was a bit of a robot and i think i even wrongly picked apart his childlike persona before. but recently i've really come to appreciate him and want to give him a big squeeze at times

I don't know if it was this video or spooky week in general, but I had my first ever dream about Deppy last night. I'll put it under the cut if anyone wants to read it.

When I came into the phandom a year and a half ago, I watched all of the ap/lap/dinof/dini from the beginning up to the current time--and you may remember, this was the big content drought, so I was watching almost no current content. And I was completely baffled by the whole "angel bean Phil" trope of someone who wasn't touchy, wasn't flirty, and almost never said suggestive things.

I knew everyone had seen pinof, and presumably also AmazingDan. Who is it that knocks Dan to the floor underneath him in pinof? Who is it that can't resist stroking Dan's back in AmazingDan? Who is it that says in AmazingDan, "Roses are red, violets are blue, I like spaghetti, let's go fuck"? Who is it that says something so risque in pinof that it gets edited out (Dan: "You can't say that.")?

So to me, this "new" presentation of AmazingPhil isn't so much evolution as simply relaxing back into a more natural state that we've seen before.

Somewhat relatedly, pages ago, dizzy speculated that we're just now starting to see Dan tease Phil about male attractions. I think one of the videos that actually came out during the drought qualifies as an early example: in Obama Llama (about 6:30), Dan got Phil to agree that Justin Timberlake coming out of a cake is "objectively" better if he's naked.

i really love the phil has been behaving lately (in the past year i mean.)
i watched dan and phil for the first time ever a year ago during spooky week 2016 and my first vids were pinof1-7.
i watched i think 2 of the spooky week vids and my first “proper” video was THE halloween baking, so i was born into the post baking universe.
i did binge all their channels (apart from sap which i never felt too into) but up until very recently i was strictly a “dannie” bc even though i truly love phil i felt like i don’t vibe with him as much as i do with dan since he is so shielded by his persona
but holy hell my appreciation for phil grows even bigger after every single video they upload!
he just comes off as so much more genuine and he lets his true sense of humor out (and boy is he hilarious) and he’s giving us a glimpse of who phil lester is rather than who AmazingPhil is and i love it
i really hope this will keep up and phil will get more and more comfortable on camera and because i really enjoy how genuine he comes off as

Just gonna agree with everyone that the Golf With Friends video was hilariously good, Banterween was definitely the right name, it was so funny.

Also, going to +1 for the change in Phil, loving his personality in this video and all of the innuendos. I started to write some bits down as I was watching but gave up as was too busy laughing at the game to take notes. I really loved how Dan called him out for being "weird" and wanting to keep playing his own game.

The funniest bits for the game for me were:
- Phil saying "my eardrum is no longer with us" with the most serious tone in his voice
- Phil saying "denied by the crack"
- Phil saying "see you in Prison, our neighbours are probably calling the police".

I honestly feel so bad for their neighbours, wonder how many times they've been reported already

I saw that Dan just bought Friday the 13th: The Game on Steam! Anyone familiar with that game?

Friday the 13th was the flavor of the month for streamers when it came out so I'm very familiar with it lol. The game itself is shit but it's very fun to watch since it's essentially a game of hide and seek where one player is Jason and the others try to find a way out of the campgrounds to avoid being killed by the Jason player. The only way to play it is on an online room with other randos, so if that's what they plan on streaming then they might ask for viewers to join their room or something like that.

I will also take this time to say that I know that Dan and Phil will never play Doki Doki Literature Club and that upsets me greatly knowing that it is the most effective horror game I have played in years. ;___;
