The absolute fuck is that visible over Dan's shoulder?! :?

Double reflection? Freaky Mask? Face pillow? Blow up Zayn doll?
I think that's just a suitcase with clothes piled on top. If you look at the room floor plan (which is one or two pages back) you can see they have a little foyer area with shelves and drawers.

Edit: what a boring post to be at the top of the page

This video had a copyright strike from AmazingPhil Ltd. Was it because of the length of the video? I really like her videos (check her funny video captions.) so I would like for it to be not taken down again.

Edit: updated the link

phamnotof you make some good points but do you honestly think there's efforts in ISG or the collabs that Phil does?

Dan and Phil started Youtube before it broke out and became more mainstream in 2012. They started from the bottom when Youtube videos main purpose was to make content that was new, different, unique, sometimes even artistic. Phil was able to grow a lot as a youtuber as did smosh and other popular channels at the time. It was when effort and charm both made you "famous". Dan entered a bit later but he also dabbled in trying to make an audience and even grew exponentially at the right time. They really are old school youtubers and what saddens me is they didn't stick to their roots of trying to be creators above businessmen. PJ stuck to that so did Charlieissocoollike. Yes they're not as famous as deppy but that's why taking a risk for deppy is easier. They already have a dedicated loving phan base that for the most part likes anything they put out and think it's the greatest in the world. They can use that to their advantage.

spider you made a great point about Phil being asked to change his content and him deciding not to because the audience enjoys it. That's a great way of looking at things but in my perspective that says that Phil makes content that he thinks the audience will love, not content that he loves himself. Maybe I'm wrong but I think now they're making stuff that sells but also that their target audience craves not exactly what they want to release. It's an insecurity Dan often shows in liveshows when releasing a video.

I can't help but see them as wasted potential. Phil has two degrees that he barely uses and he's catering to an audience instead of himself. Maybe thats the price you have to pay when trying to maintain your worth in youtube but I can't pretend that it's either of their best work. Phil wrote, directed and edited videos with his college dorm just so he can create something. A part of me wants that side of him and Dan back. The side that can make some videos for the audiences benefit, because I know the youtube demographic has changed and demands different things then the past, but also content made for the sole purpose of personal enjoyment. There should be a balance that I see missing when I see tons of collabs.

akui you could have gone to sleep, I certainly wasn't forcing you to respond. But OKAY indeed. I don't feel like you've told me anything your first post hasn't yet, anyway, and I'll repeat myself, too - I feel like it's perfectly fine and dandy you don't like their videos as much as you liked their 2013-2014 videos. I've just yet to seen you present actual evidence that it's something more than personal preference.

This whole "effort" and "quality" thing also reminds me of imagining a deeply fictional past. 2013 was a year Dan was still making TRUTH OR DARE videos, for god's sake, ISG was already in full swing & he was still sitting down to tell stories. I don't find that content deeply different on either effort or quality level. Personally, I enjoy his (and Phil's) current content more simply because I enjoy them as people more, I think Dan especially grew up a lot in the past few years and where in 2013, he was barely someone I'd watch casually, these days, he's someone I deeply care about and connect to on a personal level.

And as far as Phil goes, he's never been silent about the fact that he wants his channel to be a happy place first and foremost. So him aiming to make fluffier content to brigten up people's days is hardly news, and it's something I personally value immenselly, especially knowing that there's some hurt in Phil's past that makes me appreciate him as a person for choosing to spread light and joy through his channel. And these collabs do that for me. They make me happy. He makes me happy. Happiness is rare for me, whereas half-arsed blurry camera of Deep Depth that the often rather pretentious side of artistic YT goes for exists on every corner. I do want him to share more, to expand his range at least from breafast to also include lunchtime, but I don't want him to change.

I also think it takes a hella lot of talent and skill to make something look effortless, when we absolutely know it isn't. Phil's spoken about how he edits and perfects his videos for hours and hours, and I do think that continues to be the case more often than not.

I find this "top of youtube they should be on" that you're describing to be a deeply imaginary place, too, and I'd love to hear what conversations you've been having with Dan that suggest he currently thinks they're on it. They're doing great popularity-wise, and Dan's made a few silly snides at tags in his liveshows in the past, but I hardly thing those are significators complex enough to encapsulate the whole trut of where he stands.

And liked is, you know, watched, I really don't feel like they're worh hate-watching, people aren't tuning in cause they're afraid of the all-might PHANDOM POWER, so I really don't understand how you'd make a case for them not being liked.

I will also say that personal significance is indeed real significance in my books, and while yes, D&P aren't Citizen Kane, that hardly means they don't matter. They're both noteworthy in the context of current YouTube and mean something to a lot of people - that's the very definition of significant right there.

And yes, they will be forgotten in time. Almost everyone will be. Out of this generation, maybe a couple hundered people at most will be rememebered by the next one, and maybe 1 of them will be a YouTuber. That's how time works, but I hardly see that as an issue, just a fact of life. History is a big place, and getting lost there is hardly an issue to worry about, but that might be getting a bit OT and a bit too existential.
IckleMissMayhem wrote:Butting in to play devil's advocate: That right there? That's an OPINION. People decide individually if something is worthy of their attention. And that's just as "real" as any other opinion. :thumb:

I think there's some effort in everything. Not saying they slave over their filler content for long days and nights, but... So what? People enjoy it. Not everything needs to be Shakespeare to have value, and I see a lot of value in entertainment for the sake of entertainment.

Phil started YT when there was barely a point to YT, it was an empty platform of possibilities and people's shared effort and ambition made it into what it is today. I get that there's magic to when you're starting out, everything has that fictional sense of purity and artistry but honestly, Smosh got famous mouthing Pokémon lyrics. Hardly high art, you know?

And, you know, there's benefits to a small audience such as Charlie's or PJ's (though PJ has been broing it up lately a bit, and seeing him succeed on a larger scale feels nice as well as a bit bittersweet for what that brings) - but Charlie is producing a morning show that around 4k people a watch regularly. That can't be a good feeling, you know? Whether you consider the challenges they do there artistic is up to you, I find the whole thing a bit sad.

And I'd absolutely argue that making content for a huge amount of people brings a unique set of challenges, and I admire they way they're able to play that while still making stuff I enjoy a lot. Making millions happy is harder than making thousands, basically.

Hi! Long time lurker, first time poster here!
This is off-topic from the current discussion I guess, but I've just stumbled across a clip from a video which features deppy: , start from 8:20, that I haven't seen before. I've always had the suspiscion that deppy (in particular Dan) are quite handsy with each other, and this clip does show case that to some degree, Dan's grab of Phil's arm to move him, and then the (reassuring) pat on his shoulder etc etc. I don't know what's happening in the video, looks like they're discussing something and then continue talking to a girl? I don't know, I just see Alfie standing at the sidelines looking worried and Anthony looking bored, haha! And I think it's that night when deppy are helping Anthony back to his hotel room because he's too drunk to walk (if you know what I'm talking about), because they look to be wearing the same clothing as in the pic.

But yeah.. Don't really know what I wanted to say with this post, just thought I would share this clip because I'd like to hear your thoughts on it (if it's even worth reacting to X) ).

It's clearly just the way everything is place on the table making it seem like a face. If you can't see it, just look at it for a little while, you see it. I can never unsee this now, thanks for point this out IckleMissMayhem the more I look at, it the more it looks like the same expression Dan has in the screenshot, dear god.

if you're the devil, i guess i'll be one of your associates :thumb: i agree with everything you've written, especially the bit i bolded.

i guess i speak from a bit of inexperience because i haven't been following d&p (or youtube in that matter) for all that long but i recently (as in a few months ago) went through all of their videos and really didn't see any particular change in quality from previous videos to their current videos except maybe that the editing has gotten (mostly) more succinct, they are no longer filming on potatoes, and i don't have to experience the secondhand embarassment of watching tiny dan brush his teeth with nutella or smear pudding cups all over his face because he's become more self-conscious in a good way. when the term high quality is used, i think more along the lines of ryan higa's high-effort productions, assembled and produced by an entire team of people -- not the the general vlogger fare that d&p do.

i understand holding people to higher standards because you like them and really want them to succeed (believe, me i do the same!) but there's holding them to a higher standard and holding them to an utterly impossible standard. considering all of the work they've been into their careers between the youtube, radio, tour, book promotion, making a vague attempt to keep up with social media, sleeping, eating, etc -- little wonder some aspects of their life fall to the wayside. there are only 24 hours in a day. d&p are only human. when you get that busy, you're just taking it day by day, probably thinking at the very most a year or two into the future -- i don't think they have the time to be preoccupied by some vague notion of whatever legacy they want to leave behind. history will forget, as it has forgotten about just about everyone.

to address a previous point that someone made about d&p not taking creative risks even with the security of being deeply loved by their fanbase -- i agree that this would probably be the most logical way to see things. but i think within the last couple of days we also were talking about the joanne the scammer article and how dan probably identified with that one quote about the audience turning its back on you the first sign that you start struggling to stay relevant, and i wonder if that's the philosophy that d&p both kind of share. why change the formula if it's working? who knows, maybe phil has some side channel where he uploads the weirder things he does or maybe he just makes them and sets them aside.

in the end though, i think it really comes down to the fact that even if you're frustrated with the current content, d&p as creators don't owe us anything. calling their channels wasted potential because it doesn't cater to you personally can only ever be an opinion and not an objective judgement. i think the objective measure resides in the trend of subscribers and views and when it really starts to tank, they'll change their strategy accordingly.

Haven't seen this before, so thanks cupcakeman! That's definitely not Louise though. Possibly Cat with the back pack, and then I think Anthony & Alfie are the two guys also in that little group?

Edit: upon rewatching, looks like Jim is there too. Definitely still don't think it's Louise though, too short and her hair didn't look like that in 2013.

I'm ignoring any opinions about video subjects here because whether you like them or not is very subjective. But rn you're praising them (or Dan in this case) for doing a decent job editing, putting in annotations, collecting material like memes that the phandom literally hands to them, crediting the people that made those and just not being complete shit at what they do... If that isn't exactly what the bare minimum is, then I don't know anymore.
It's hard to have a discussion about this since you chose one small point I made out of an over 1k words post. I mean, hey, the fart joke was funny, kudos on the fart joke (I actually did laugh), but it can be a bit frustrating when you choose to respond to this one thing that was very much a detail used to illustrate a larger point. I mean, yeah, I do think the Memes video was higher effort than most YT Gleamer-esque videos cause of the effort that went in and the idea. I'm just saying it's not exactly comparable to doing am 8th Q&A this year. So with you taking it out of context, yeah, I might sound like a silly person praising them for doing something rather ordinary, but I do think it might be worth putting them in context of other creators if we wanna talk about the effor they put into individual videos.

As someone who watches a lot of YT, I do think their editing is higher quality than usual, and I also know that a hella lot of YTers don't give a flying fuck about crediting people, and going through thousands of messages of material "handed to them" sounds like a headache to me. Not saying we should kiss their pasty asses for that, but as I said, that was a minor detail used to illustrate a larger point, so it's hard to talk about out of context.
The rest of your post was read (and disagreed with) but not really relevant to the response I wanted to make so I deleted it so that the thread wouldn't become the length of the First Testament. It's that specific bit that I wanted to reply to because I see people praising them for doing minimal shit all the time and it annoys me. I'm not gonna get praise for feeding the cats and cleaning out the litter boxes tomorrow at the animal shelter while the rest of the enclosures look like a damn mess, because the bare minimum shouldn't be enough to deserve that. It's where I return to the white male mediocrity mentioned in a previous post, these boys get away with a lot. Like you, I also watch a lot of YT but to me D&P are really nothing special be it creatively or technically.

I'll gladly respond to other stuff in your post now though.
(I'm not saying they handled the US great, but I greatly appreciate they seem to have learned from it during the Australia leg & feel like they deserve credit for that.)
lolwut. They didn't learn shit, D&P knew exactly what they were doing during the US tour and that why it bothers me. They almost completely abandoned social media for two months to make another book to sell us and they knew damn well they could because any criticism the phandom has gets burried in praise anyway. The AUS tour won't be featured in the book (or at least not as heavily), so there is no need to keep silent. I'm not giving credit for that, over my dead body :')
Now, sure, some of you signed up for separate creators who sometimes collaborate, not a professional duo, but making a choice to join their brands together was theirs and choosing to keep up with them is yours. I, for one, am glad they did it, and think it's benefiting their work & success.
Oh I'm glad too, I've said it before but the two of them together is what keeps me interested in them and the phandom. As individual creators they've been long past their prime and my interest in that part of their careers keeps dwindling as time goes by. They never exactly tried to salvage it either (though I'll be amused if they suddenly decide to give a shit again when tour is over) so I don't feel guilty about saying that.
With Phil, you describe “was collab after collab after collab, laziness upon laziness upon laziness“. Now, yes, Phil does a lot of collabs. I personally love his collabs, I think he puts a lot of creativity into them rather than using random things from around YT people grab for anytime they need a quick collab idea (his future quiz with PJ was hilarious & creative as fuck, you can't go wrong with laughing with Dan on a bed like happy children – cause hey, entertaining people and making them smile is an art in itself as far as I'm considered -, his Hazel collab was a smart way to promote the tour while doing something new where they could have easily just chatter about the US together, the past life animal quiz was something never done on YT before and it was, once again, done with some pretty thorough pre-planning, as IDB detectives have discovered since.) I find his stories entirely delightful & in no way lacking to his old videos because I relate to him as a person more now than before, which just goes to prove that it's difficult to judge quality there objectively, too.
I didn't include this in my previous post because it was just you saying that you like Phil's collabs and other videos, which we can argue about all day and night. But I'll take the opportunity to express opinions and thoughts about the AP channel anyway. I usually like Phil's solo vlog style videos, but this year they all seemed rushed. Filler videos filmed because he had to have something to upload. The best solo piece he has made was Another Sleepless Night. I don't like Phil's collabs that aren't with Dan, it's all the same concept of playing a silly game and he rarely has chemistry with his guests. Alfie, Caspar, Tyler... all awkward to watch (though the concept for the collab with Tyler was cool). The collab with Hazel was awful, mostly because I can't stand Hazel so that's not Phil's fault, but it was so basic and unimaginative. 'I guess we'll collab because we're kinda friends and it's convenient, lemme get some tour #spon in there as well'. Yikes. I do like Phil and PJ together because I think their brains work in similar ways and there's potential for greatness there, but it doesn't show in any of their collabs so it's always a disappointment for me.

And although I enjoy his collabs with Dan most of the time (I loved the Past Life Animal video but didn't like the Face Swap challenge) the fact that Dan is on AP pretty much every other video is all the proof I need for myself to see that Phil doesn't care anymore. Dan in a video is easy views, he knows that so he keeps putting Dan in every other video. Thing is, it doesn't exactly make a good impression on people (potential subscribers/employers/sponsors) when all your most viewed videos feature this one particular guy whose own most popular videos don't usually feature you. I can't imagine that he doesn't know that so I don't really get what Phil wants with the future of his channel and YouTube career tbh. Yeah they have the Dan & Phil brand now, but Dan seems to have ambitions outside of that while Phil doesn't seem to have any anymore. That used to be different, but hey if he'd rather go out easy like this that's fine I guess. Not my problem.
So, my point is that – I feel like nostalgia is this weird liar that leads us to imagining the past as a post card rather than a messy reality. The past was not that glamorous, and the presence is not that tragic. I personally prefer their now tenfold, even if I do have issues with their unpredictable schedule, tendencies to go off the map occasionally, and lying where they could have easily avoided the subject altogether & spared us all the charade.
I ignored your point because anything that tries to counter my feelings and opinions with accusations of me just being too nostalgic about things is not worth my time. Miss me with that shit. I'm critical of them now and was like that 4 years ago as well, don't ever think that I was a blind stan before. Truth Or Dare was hardly quality content, but at least Dan has enough common sense to stop it while ISG just keeps going on and on because he now likes the easy cash flow he gets from content like that. I like being critical of the artists that I stan. And my critical ass has the opinion that D&P aren't as amazing as the phandom cracks them up to be, that they get praised for doing shit every other YouTuber does, and that before they got distracted by money making side projects they created better YouTube content than they do now.
Overall, I think they're not the very hardest working people on YT, but they're hardly middle ground of just doing the bare minimum, either. They've managed to keep people interested for so long and their channels continue to grow steadily in a way that the numbers do almost speak for themselves, too, which brings me to your two other points, which I do not feel should be dismissed so quickly.
Sub numbers don't mean shit and I feel like their growth is quite slow compared to what it was. Like me and several other people said previously, the only part they really play in keeping the audience in their clutches is the ambiguity of their sexuality and relationship. It's an entertaining mystery, no matter on what side of fence you're on. Content is more important to lure people in, not to keep people there. And because the phandom is so fiercely loyal and very self sufficient, they don't have to do shit for it. If the power and numbers of the phandom relied on the boys themselves cracks would've started showing during the USA tour. They're not responsible for the community that was build, they just benefit from it. That's fine, it's their fandom after all, but again not credit worthy.

Not gonna bother with the rest.

Oh yeah I remember that, back when they still let themselves be spotted in the background of other people's vlogs. Good times. Caused a meltdown among shippers (myself included) because they rarely ever touched each other back then. Those girls aren't Cat and Louise though, Cat is taller and had shorter hair and they didn't even really know Louise until later that year.

thank you for making such an effort with your post, I loved reading it. I agree they have managed to keep people interested for long, even myself having now been a fan for 2 years. I often wonder what keeps me watching them and why I am so invested in two random guys, I honestly don't know. I'm not complaining though, they distract me from real life, which can sometimes be shitty. I really can't put my finger on why I keep watching or why I enjoy posting and talking about them but I can't imagine not being part of the phandom as it is a big part of my life right now. What on earth did I have to fill my life beforehand!

Could that be Kalel's friend (Evelina, I think her name is)? The one that can be seen in this video around 3:39:
(I haven't seen this either -, kudos cupcakeman. :))

But in all truthfulness, I find this tweet hilarious for some reason  I wonder how he's gonna explain it?

i understand holding people to higher standards because you like them and really want them to succeed (believe, me i do the same!) but there's holding them to a higher standard and holding them to an utterly impossible standard. considering all of the work they've been into their careers between the youtube, radio, tour, book promotion, making a vague attempt to keep up with social media, sleeping, eating, etc -- little wonder some aspects of their life fall to the wayside. there are only 24 hours in a day. d&p are only human. when you get that busy, you're just taking it day by day, probably thinking at the very most a year or two into the future -- i don't think they have the time to be preoccupied by some vague notion of whatever legacy they want to leave behind. history will forget, as it has forgotten about just about everyone.

to address a previous point that someone made about d&p not taking creative risks even with the security of being deeply loved by their fanbase -- i agree that this would probably be the most logical way to see things. but i think within the last couple of days we also were talking about the joanne the scammer article and how dan probably identified with that one quote about the audience turning its back on you the first sign that you start struggling to stay relevant, and i wonder if that's the philosophy that d&p both kind of share. why change the formula if it's working? who knows, maybe phil has some side channel where he uploads the weirder things he does or maybe he just makes them and sets them aside.

in the end though, i think it really comes down to the fact that even if you're frustrated with the current content, d&p as creators don't owe us anything. calling their channels wasted potential because it doesn't cater to you personally can only ever be an opinion and not an objective judgement. i think the objective measure resides in the trend of subscribers and views and when it really starts to tank, they'll change their strategy accordingly.
I just wanted to say that I agree with this entirely

@Catallena, under spoiler cause not many people are probably interested in this back and forth
Catallena wrote: The rest of your post was read (and disagreed with) but not really relevant to the response I wanted to make so I deleted it so that the thread wouldn't become the length of the First Testament.
It's fine you wanted to respond to small part of my post, my issue was that the detail you responded to only made sense in context. I'm sorry nobody says anything nice about you for doing work at the shelter, that definitely is a good thing to do. And I do think that acknowledging everyday boring work that goes into getting shit done has value, I wish people did more of that overall, but that might just be me & how I do the world.

Also, for ther record, again, I never said we should build them a statue for it, I was just illustrating a larger point, that being that I think the overall quality of their content is better than average. And I just really don't think they're mediocre when you compare them to other creators within their genre on YT who need to satisfy an audience as large as theirs.
Catallena wrote: lolwut. I'm not giving credit for that, over my dead body :')
lolwut. Nice. Really makes me feel like I'm talking to an adult. I do think they knew what they were doing in the US, but that doesn't mean they didn't hear people's complaints and fixed it while in Australia, and I think they did? Like there was more videos, more interactions - basically everything we complained about not getting while they were in the US. And unless you got your dapgo copy already, I'm fascinated by the authority with which you describe it won't be featured. Obviously not as heavily as the tour was shorter but otherwise, everything seems to suggest they're putting it in, too, as they continued to gather the material for it much like in the US from what was reported.
Catallena wrote:

It's fine you're disappointed with Phil's content, I'm not dictating you how you should feel. I don't agree with you, but whatever, we don't need to agree. My issue is presenting opinions as facts, and they definitely are opinions as there are people (hi!) who feel differently. That was my whole point.
Catallena wrote: I ignored your point because anything that tries to counter my feelings and opinions with accusations of me just being too nostalgic about things is not worth my time.

This is all fine, you feel that was and - you know - I hope you have fun with your phandom experience? Seems very positive. That's your choice though & again, my point was to illustrate that not everyone feels the same way and I've yet to be conviced there's an objective way to measure quality without personal taste affecting us.
Catallena wrote: Sub numbers don't mean shit and I feel like their growth is quite slow compared to what it was.
"Sub numbers don't mean shit" is an interesting point to put next to "they're growing slower" - like, subs don't matter unless they showcase something negative? Anyway, the numbers I was refering to were views, and they get a lot of views compared to most people who've been successful as long as they've been.

So your view is that they lucked into a community they don't deserve, their fandom fell into their laps by accident and we're all here just cause we wanna know if they're shagging? Well. I guess, again, we'll just have to agree to disaggree on all accounts here. I do agree that I enjoy the mystery, but I also enjoy their work immensely & their early content would definitely not lure me in, the current did.

I also think that fostering and being at a centre of a rather special creator/fandom relationship is credit-worthy, but again, agree to disagree.
august - loved your post

This video had a copyright strike from AmazingPhil Ltd. Was it because of the length of the video? I really like her videos (check her funny video captions.) so I would like for it to be not taken down again.

Edit: updated the link
I saw that as well, at first I assumed she'd put part of voldy in it and that's how it was taken down so quickly but I looked at the tumblr she made and she said she thinks she put too much of one video in a row in it so maybe there's a time limit on how much of a video you can use in one go rather than little clips? Idk, but I agree with you the sarcastic little comments are hilarious on all of the videos she's done

Damn. Recommend giving this a watch with Deppy (well, Dan, I guess, moreso) in mind. Everyone will have to get themselves a kid-friendly persona or else the money might stop raining, I guess, though D&P are both lucky to not rely on per view money anymore.

(I suppose this goes to show why most people who don't make it go on to solo, outside the YT space projects, too, cause YouTube can change on you overnight & you'd be screwed if you didn't have a system in place to sustain your livestyle.)

Just my quick thoughts on a few things:

Dan saying "put your shirt on" was hilarious, I like sassy Dan.

The other gossip site was still fairly tame compared to the hate I've seen directed at other youtubers, and most of the complaints were directed mainly at how annoying the phandom can be rather than D&P themselves which I found interesting, it seems most people either love them or are indifferent which is fairly rare really, I don't remember seeing much criticism of them personally

Many people get degrees and then go on to get jobs which don't reflect their degree, Phil is using his masters technically as whilst the technology may have moved on the techniques he's learnt will still be helping him (Offtopic just because I'm nosy does anyone know what grade he got for his degree? It has to be at least a 2:1 for him to be able to do the masters but I'd be curious to know if he got that or a first)

I personally don't think d&p are lazy, I think what we forget sometimes is that a lot of the famous YouTubers seem on the cusp of burning out, Shane Dawson is scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas now because when you've been doing the same job for 7-10 years it's hard sometimes to muster enthusiasm for it, and yes I know the answer will be "but they get paid loads" and I'm sure they do but I'd imagine even Wayne Rooney can't be arsed on a rainy Wednesday away at Stoke. (I am not a Man U fan he's just a generic example) At the moment their lives are filled with projects which they are starting to wrap up, and whilst I hope they continue to make videos on their YouTube channels and enjoy making those videos I also hope they look for outside projects as well because if i sincerely hope they never get to the levels of burnout some of the Americans are at because Shane Dawson is gorging himself on milkshakes made out of whatever's easiest to postmate and he looks like he really, really hates his life.

In conclusion, i like the videos they're putting out, I appreciate that everyone else is entitled to different opinions but let's face it, it could be so much worse.

watch them do some kind of galaxied giant milkshake collab now just to spite me

I fixed the link for you :platonic:

I haven't seen this video before either, thanks for sharing! I believe those girls are Louise and Cat. It's nice and to be honest kind of unexpected to see Dan being that touchy-feely
I too have never seen this before so thanks! Having watched that bit on repeat like 10 times it seems to me like Dan's trying to drag Phil to his side (his left side) then Phil doesn't wanna be rude to mysteryblonde and goes to his right, and when he does Dan looks suspiciously like he's starting to put his arm around him. Not a big deal for 99.999999% of the population but cute for them, especially at that time

This is why I think they never went through much of a rough patch behind closed doors, just shakey on-camera. Because this kind of second-nature handsiness is something we've been seeing more and more of over the last year, which leads me to believe its been there all along and they're just happy for some of it to show these days
