My suspicion is slightly different to yours - from the weird choppy, close-range shots (and clearly set up to some extent re him already being dressed when he 'just woke up') and from the fact we never go back into that room at any point in the video, the theory I would lean more towards is that it was Martyn and Cornelia's room and they didn't actually get separate rooms at all. They got a normal double, knew they couldn't shoot the opener in there so went 'I'm just gonna lie on their bed and do the intro, brb'.

As I say, still not convinced at all, I wish they'd just start the vid a little later in the day and avoid all this, but who knows

I guess they're sticking with the DITL format of waking up first, but they've always been pretty staged. Dan 'waking up' with perfectly straightened hair in the London one... Honestly yes, they should just stop trying haha. Skip that part, just start later. But then people would be focusing on what they skipped/why etc. They can't win either way, so whatever.

I'm going to rewatch but I really loved the 'your mum' part and them fake laughing at each other. Felt really natural, like stupid jokes they would make off camera, twas cute. Also Phil calling Dan's personality 'sassy & daring' per the shampoo bottle. Aw.

Also I wonder if Dan does yoga, because that flip over thing is something I can't do because I'm afraid of breaking my neck (fuck you plow pose) and he just rolled so easily into it.

Yeah the woman with dark hair is with them in every business-related thing they do (TATINOF, book signings, recorded interviews, Vidcon, Playlist...). The blonde woman is likely from their management too, as she was in the back of some fan pictures that took place after the flight from Hong Kong to Australia (both ladies were holding what looked like deppy's suitcases while deppy were taking pictures with fans). The pictures are on updatedphan, but you have to scroll down a bit.

If D&P had romantic partners on tour with them then while they were filming they would be operating a very strict you stay in front of the camera policy with them. No way would they be letting their secret lovers be in the backgrounds of the videos the fans analyse everything about (and if there is any video that will be dissected to death it is a DITL and they know it).

If they were that sloppy about things the phandom would have managed to link them to someone in the last 7 years (well someone other then each other lol). I think it's safe to say anyone they let appear in the background of a video even for only a few seconds is not someone they are trying to hide.

Of course that not to say their wives aren't there with them... they were obviously just walking ahead of the camera with the kids.

Just to expand on Ticia's theorising, you can see phone chargers on both sides of the bed. On the left at 3.27 and on the right at 16.53.

I loved the video! I knew people would freak out but I didn't think it would be... So intense.
My take on the situation (given the odd proof of Phil being fully dressed and ready, not showing us his room, and Dan's bed not looking slept in) is that they got a room for sleeping and a room for filming. It would make sense, too, if they were working on the book or something that they couldn't show us they would get an extra room to film in. It's not like anything is stropping them from doing so. The difference between this and Japan is that they were in Japan for a long while, so they couldn't easily move their stuff into another room, but this is just one tour stop so they probably had planned it from the very beginning.
I know this is reaching or whatever but this video certainly had some odd qualities about it, as Ticia pointed out.
One more thing: showing that they had seperate rooms doesn't tell me that they're recoiling in terms of bein more open about phan. I think showing they were sharing a room was just... A big step. Too big, especially when you consider what fancybum was saying. This is a step back, but it doesn't mean they'll stop altogether

For someone like myself who doesn't watch them for their relationship I find the comments pretty lolzor. You'd think them having seperate rooms was a crime. I've not even watched the video yet but most of the comments I've seen over social media are about the bedroom situation. It's so funny to me that so many people care so much about it. i saw something on tumblr about how the video was ruined for them because it would give the antiphans ammunition (lolzor really), I quickly closed tumblr down.

I can't wait to watch it, I was out (pokemoning) when they dropped it. Been hard to resist watching it but I'm almost home and I plan to tuck myself in my duvet and analyse the shit out of it after.

It's hard to believe that I started watching deppy because I liked their content, now it seems like I'm being constantly insulted for being hopeful they have made steps towards being more comfortable with their audience. While it was always obvious that their DITL's are scripted to make a good video , the t-shirt realization left a bad taste. After watching the video I've come to the conclusion that either Phil is lying or Phil is a smelly b*stard for sleeping in a shirt he was about to wear that day.

I'm disappointed that we've taken a step back. I'm sad we have to go through gaslighting at every other video/photo they post and then discuss what is genuine and what was fan service. It's easier to presume everything is fan service and nothing is genuine anymore and anything real is edited out, not shown or covered over by scripted moments like what was most likely in this video.

Also to add to the blonde woman talk: I find it unlikely they would leave her in shot or in the video, no doubt if she was in any way connected to them romantically or even platonically. Phil did not even introduce Martyn or Cornelia in his video which was I was disappointed by. I also don't understand how a merch girl can be a secret girlfriend? Why would a secret girlfriend agree to do all the hard work for free while her boyfriend is running around and spending more time with his platonic BFF who he has unresolved sexual tension with?

Yeah, this DITL wasn't my fave thing in the world, but the unexpectedness of it ('twas expecting a Dil video; presuming they'd pre-filmed one before leaving and only needed to edit it?) was a lovely surprise.
The separate rooms thing stood out to me a lot, but moreso, Phil wearing the same T-shirt he'd be wearing the rest of the vid when he'd just "woke up" And then the pointed attention to a poster on his wall...only to contrast it with Dan's later in the video. The poster who stated the two steps forward, one step back point, is absolutely right - we've had candid photos being shared recently and randomly via Twitter; being generally very jolly and yet still natural in the PokemonGo vids - and then a massive jump back with this. Those starting scenes felt so weird and staged too. Particularly as it was only Phil... and furthermore, why do they even bother filming the mornings when there's so much stuff to consider hiding (if that's what they're doing?) Just ditch the tradition wordlessly - note: I don't actually want them to do this!! - and then the conjecturing on their mornings will be 10 times more abstract.
However, I've just realised that they essentially have 2 bedrooms back at their flat, so maybe there's some undisclosed reason (snoring? Dan coughing, if he is still sick? Space issues - they're both tall guys) meaning that they just don't share a bed as it is. So now I'm less bothered.

Parts of the vid I liked:
- Dan and his koala-ear-nuzzling (I swear part of me died at that moment. And it takes a fair bit for that to happen to me )
- The bit in the car with Phil...philming (not sorry) Dan's non-selfie side-face was very adorable. Those pauses though. That zooming-in on Dan's face for no reason. That weirdly stunted conversation, like the only reason Phil decided to film was because he wanted to capture Dan at that moment.
- Pina colado....and ?
- Dan seemed fairly subdued the entire video, and I was intrigued seeing the less manic Geminian side of this boy, in his more 'natural' ways and mannerisms. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the dinof persona, but it was nice to see this side of him too.
- The animals were so fluffy and ahh Phil feeding the baby kangaroo thingy, and then Dan's pan up to Phil's happy face at the very end, before it cuts
- Nearly getting swatted in the face by a kangaroo...Dan wyd?? I was super scared whenever they so much as got near an animal, let alone snuck up on them. Hella brave!
- When Dan's buying the shirt (14:37 onwards) does he say "Anita has that classic 3-wolf-moon aesthetic" or "I need to have ..."? If the former (he does look round as if to indicate somebody else)...who's Anita?
- Dan with his legs up on the bed (and other phrases I never thought I'd type ), I (and another previous poster said they do something like it too) have to do this as my hamstrings are super tight so it's a way of stretching them out...and it's also generally relaxing (plus I have ADHD and unless I consciously choose to relax/do activities like this I get all jittery and can't sleep. Not necessarily saying Dannyfire has ADHD - although if I'm being honest, I definitely see some traits of it in him, like how he's constantly tapping/talking/misplacing words like in the 'eating a horse' moment, lol - but I'm just relating a possible reason for his position Unless he was just being random, in which case fair enough! And this is more likely as he swung himself backward afterwards, lol)
- "I'm never washing my hand again" - cmon Dan, that's just
- Was it just me (most probably, lol) but at the very end, 19:02, there's a distinct but very short moment where the boys look at each other quickly (after Phil says "See you guys very soon") and idk, it gave off non-platonic vibes to me. Almost like they'd forgotten they were filming and were about to kiss (yes, I'm mental. Haha!) But I'm glad they ended the video in the same room instead of repeating that weird-feeling mess at the start.
My rating: 3/5 as I'm not sure I'd rewatch this DITL (not on par with the Christmas one, not by a long shot)...but still not the worst thing ever. :mrgreen:
And tbh I want to see Dil in post-engagement bliss, maybe that's why I'm not giving this vid a 4 or 5

I think the phone on the bed is Dan's because like a second after looking down for the time he waves his hands infront of the camera and doesn't seem to be holding anything in them and I don't think it looks like his hands moved to put his phone in his jeans pockets in that time either. So he was either looking at a watch or possibly nothing hence why looking down didn't seem to actually gain him any knowledge about what the time was.

I personally am getting really sick of this. People say we're "reaching" when it comes to proving phan? Okay, I counter with Dan and Phil are reaching to cover it up. Ticia made a lovely post about how they were basically living in the same room, someone mentioned two chargers, etc. So either Phil and Dan both slept in that room or Phil just slept in the room across the hall and spent all his waking hours with Dan. Either way I'm fine, like, I'm not trippin. Dan and Phil are tripping if they got a whole nother hotel room just to fool us. This is basically a big "fuck you" from Dan and Phil by showing us separate rooms but I say "fuck you" right back at them because they're not gonna fool me with this bullshit. No matter what Dan and Phil are attached at the hip and that's not gonna change if they sleep apart for a tour stop. Sorry bout it.

Something I wanted to mention was, I think that Dan and Phil are tweeting all these pictures of each other because they know that we totally go bananas over it? After 1 picture of Dan "without him knowing" the forum is filled up with emoticons so I feel like Dan and Phil must have realized that and are trying to give us what we want. I'm not complaining and I won't dare say the word "fanservice" but I think that they're just doing it more now because they realized we love it. I'm indifferent, don't know how I feel about it, but I just thought I'd point it out since I didn't get a chance to earlier.

Anyway my reaction to Dan and Phil with animals is

Whatevs. I am phan af, and I enjoy nsfw phanfic and phan art, but I honestly don't want to know where they sleep and who they do/do not fuck. All I want from them are the moments they have seemed so eager to provide as of late--the kindness, the fondness, the flirty nature of their relationship. They are obviously each other's fave person and spend an inordinate amount of time with each other. They have just seemed so happy and comfortable with each other lately, and this video was no exception.

As for the video, I loved the part at the nature sanctuary, the hanging out in Dan's room, and the generally happy vibe. I do want to know more about Phil drawing the pentagram, though

I'm just going to be adopting my usual opinion with the DITLs that "anything that happens prior to them going outside is... planned."

Still a thoroughly enjoyable vid though!

So, with all the previous talk about possible coming changes I decided to write this post and I was feeling bad about it being too much on the relationship speculation side, when - bam! - the video happened and, well... look at us now

But I'll still talk about what I was going to before, because now it seems even more relevant smh, but first a direct reaction to the DITL. VERY CUTE MUCH LOVE except for the opening, which was indeed very weird. aside from that, there was also the balcony talk a bit later, what did you guys think about that? When Phil is talking about how Dan has it all to himself and Dan is like "what do you mean", sounded like a natural reaction to me - and then Phil says "he's sharing his with somebody". Made me actually believe them about the rooms, but what about Phil's shirt and not showing anything in the intro?

Another point very quickly: rizzo, sorry to point that but re: sending the picture to Phil's mum I'm pretty sure Dan's actually saying "what, you're just gonna post it" and not "we're just gonna"

And the last thing about beds & rooms: I know someone's talked about it already, but do you guys think they'll do a bus tour in the documentary? or how it'll be handled in general, what do you think?

Now, what I was actually going to write before the video.

I quietly fistpumped when the first tweet I saw on twitter today was about an Australia DITL. I'm thankful they've finally used their travels on tour to generate some content.

I have a lot of affection for past DITLs, so it's pretty tough for new ones to measure up. As a reference point to another DITL on their travels, I enjoyed Japan since Tokyo was obviously somewhere they were really keen to explore and they crammed in a lot of activities. Just in terms of structure, this Australia one wasn't as eventful. Really it was hotel room --> supermarket for timtams --> wildlife park --> hotel room. I am aware that the London DITL wasn't particularly jam packed either, but that had the benefit of being in their home rather than the relatively impersonal hotel room. Just as the PINOF videos are elevated above the average Q&A video, the DITL videos perhaps are also held to unrealistic standards (the festive DITL ruined us), partly because we only get an average of one a year.

Treated as a vlog, I enjoyed the video. It was a fun day out, and the animals were v cute, always a plus. They seem to have taken an ultimate Vlogger Hack to heart: if you can't entertain your audience yourself, just grab a cute animal or birth a child. Views = Sorted. Unfortunately enough, no child for deppy. Heartbreaking. Watching Dan ineptly attempt to herd a goose while Phil looked on made my day 50% better (a reversal of the praying mantis LAP perhaps. Sidenote: R.I.P. LessAmazingPhil ).

One thing that kind of distracted me a bit was Martyn, Cornelia and the ~mysterious ~women (omg sekret girlfwends ) appearing in the background from time to time. I expect that D&P consulted them about whether they wanted to be included, and they probably made the (sensible) choice to not have the eye of the phandom on them too closely.

Either way, it was a nice update on their lives. And again, cute animals.

Obligatory input on the bedroom debacle:

I struggle to understand how a viewer can be ~heartbroken by their showing two bedrooms. Perhaps my perspective is skewed because I very much see the DITL as a carefully built construction of their lives. It's been said a million times, but they/Phil deliberately pick and choose which aspects of their day to share, and what is off limits. They quite obviously choose not to film themselves shitting, because yo even Joey G hasn't sunk to those depths (soz to Joey G fans, he was just the first vlogger I could think of). They also possibly don't show their precise sleeping arrangements, because very possibly that's just as private as shitting.

I could have really come up with a better analogy than shitting. I can't be arsed to edit.

I enjoy just as much as the next person going through the vlog at 0.25 speed to catch a glimpse of the white cable on both sides of the bed, and looking askance at Phil bleary eyed and fully dressed in bed, but I think I'm more concerned about the impression they are trying to give. They tried very hard in this vlog to impress upon their audience that they were sleeping in separate hotel suites, and this, to me, reveals their comfort levels at this particular junction.

I'm not sure whether anybody was foolhardy enough to expect them to luxuriate together in a bed covered with roses, and lube bottles flung on every surface, but I think expecting them to suddenly be a-okay with an ambiguous bedroom set up overseas is also unrealistic. Bedrooms appears to be a hard-line topic. They still have very clearly defined bedrooms back in London, and they had equally clearly defined bedrooms in this vlog. Although the Japan DITL bedroom set up was slightly more ambiguous, this doesn't seem to me to be 'steps backward', but more a continuation of a consistently held party line.

Something weird: Am I the only one that feels my back hurting every time I see Phil's bad posture? Philly please straighten your back before it forever gets hunched (although his back has already turned a little bit hunched since the beginning? It wasn't as worse before. I'm not voting on anything. There are, as always, arguments for every possible scenario, and none of those scenarios prove anything either. I just enjoy watching the hunt.

I've just finished watching it and I have so much love for Dan and Phil right now - I'm not sure what has happened to me.
I feel a lot of endearment towards them right now, the way Dan was so confident with the koala and Phil was the other extreme, so nervous about not holding him properly. The way Dan rubbed his nose in the koalas ear and the way Phil was rubbing it's back. They were so soft and I really enjoyed it. I pretty much had a grin on my face the whole time. Phil is so soft towards all the animals, he really is lovely. I might have snort laughed when Dan almost got punched by the kangaroo haha.
Also, how on earth did Phil fit that whole Tim Tam in his mouth at once? Are they quite small or does he just have a big mouth
Going to go rewatch it another few times, this is going to be up there with the festive ditl for me, I love these videos the most.
