Hi everyone, I was active in phandom from like 2015 - 2018 and a lurker on GG back then (lol). The new content has sucked me back in after all these years and I have just been unable to stop thinking/wanting to talk about d&p so I decided to finally just register an account here
So anyway, about this new video: I see a lot of myself in Dan's qualities and although his sense of humor is maybe a little more edgy and annoying than mine, I find him a lot easier to comprehend as a person. Which means that in this new video, the ways in which he's opening up and changing compared to like, 2011 or even 2017, feel like they make logical sense to me. On the other hand, as much as I adore Phil, it's always been slightly harder for me to get a read on him. Lately I can't stop rewatching ancient AP videos and just comparing and contrasting the way he talked and interacted with people in the past vs now. He's more open, happy, making raunchy jokes, and I don't expect or even necessarily want him to start pouring his entire heart out on the screen for me. But I still find it interesting the ways in which he is STILL hard to read, a bit more guarded. IDK if it's just me feeling that way! I'd be interested in hearing people's thoughts on Phil's youtube projection over the years. Anyway it was a great video, I had a lot of fun and rewatched it again today already. In some moments, especially the scone argument at high tea, I was seriously feeling like I was just third wheeling on a date. Like... should I be here with you two?

What do we think about them changing the name of the new video from ‘We Let a Rat Control Our Day’ to ‘Our Anniversary London Adventure’? They never even mention the word anniversary in the video or imply that it’s an anniversary activity (unless I missed this and they did say it?). Idk it feels a bit too much like pandering to young fans to me.
Regarding the video itself, I agree with others that it was lovely. It felt so fresh but also natural at the same time. I wish they did things out of the house more!

It had that title for me all along from the moment of upload . They probably did an a/b test and that one won, which it is a better title (more unique to them and their audience) so I see why it is.casualsun wrote: Sat Oct 25, 2025 9:00 pm What do we think about them changing the name of the new video from ‘We Let a Rat Control Our Day’ to ‘Our Anniversary London Adventure’?
They can pander to me all they want. They essentially filmed a 15 hour date around London and I am happy to ride along with any title

Yes it was an A/B test. It's always had both titles, and you might see a different one at different times. They didn't change it.casualsun wrote: Sat Oct 25, 2025 9:00 pm What do we think about them changing the name of the new video from ‘We Let a Rat Control Our Day’ to ‘Our Anniversary London Adventure’? On another topic, can't believe how much content we're getting now though wtf

Ngl I’m a little bit overwhelmed that it feels like almost daily content now. I had a moment where I actively hoped we wouldn’t get anything else yesterday so I could digest the anniversary date and then they posted the commentary.
But oh my god I LOVE that as a format. It’s sooo clever and I really enjoy that they seem so willing to try out new things now??
Re title: I actually don’t think it’s catered to younger fans, I find it just caters more to the insiders? Like if you know you know - and quite frankly they can pander to me all they want with that, I’m in.
Re Phil being hard to read: I actually need to think about that for a sec cause I don’t find him that hard to read? I just think that like… without being mean, Phil is pretty straightforward and probably just more balanced out in his feelings? So it comes across as more reserved but there’s not much more going on behind it? Idk how to describe it, I think I’ll sit on that for a bit longer and try to formulate it

I love all the lurkers joining in, welcome! As former lurker, I'm often fighting the urge to just silently step back into the shadowssecondtetrisblock wrote: Sat Oct 25, 2025 5:42 pm Hi everyone, I was active in phandom from like 2015 - 2018 and a lurker on GG back then (lol). I can kind of understand your point about Phil. I guess he doesn't want to share his most personal feelings the way Dan has shared his and that's understandable. Personally, like a decade back I wasn't the biggest fan of AmazingPhil solo videos because I felt like there was somewhat of a children's entertainer persona going on. I enjoyed Phil a lot more after the gaming channel renaissance, and I very much prefer the current, especially podcast-Phil
I am still trying to break out of this stupor! Throughout the day, I find myself daydreaming about them (in a isn't it lovely kind of way) and I'm at a point where I would very much like to stop now, brain, thanks! They've even entered my dreams
One note from the Patreon director's commentary, Phil said that they were recognized 'quite a bit' during that day, as in all the encounters weren't included in the video. I wonder if they find it stressful? I know I would, but I guess they're used to it by now. Also, they talked further about the Cupid's pod and I have no reason to believe they would lie about it. I was mostly cackling just how awkward it must have been with the staff in there. Phil also mentioned that if you used the Cupid's pod to propose you wouldn't be alone, apparently usually there's just one person, but still, not exactly private
Did everyone see Phil's story about going on on a spooky road trip? I wonder if we get any spooky gaming at all? They're churning a lot of content out, hopefully they're mindful of not being too eager now, burning themselves out and we're left waiting weeks for further content
I don't think so. They've said many times that they find it lovely to meet subscribers. Knowing Dan, if they didn't like it, he would've at some point said "hey please stop approaching us on the street" in annoyance. They have also said on various occasions when fans are going too far e.g. going to their home addresses or in the hard launch video about "archaeology", but have never made similar comments about being approached on the street. Maybe they find it slightly tiring but it's not like these are negative or high-stakes interactions; it's someone who follows you online and enjoys the content you create for the public. It is also "part of the job", they've constantly chosen very public-facing careers as entertainers, so naturally if you're successful you will have fans who will recognise you.Kuu wrote: Sun Oct 26, 2025 11:50 am One note from the Patreon director's commentary, Phil said that they were recognized 'quite a bit' during that day, as in all the encounters weren't included in the video. Listened to the second episode of the podcast on my commute this morning and enjoyed it. They're getting into a better groove with it and it's feeling much more like a stereo yap, which is comforting because of how familiar it feels. The hard launch segment isn't quite hitting for me yet but hopefully the submissions will get better/more curated over time.
I think at this point I consume their content because it's familiar and comforting and I've followed them for years, so it's like catching up with an old pal (parasocial who) and seeing what they've been up to. I wouldn't seek out their content for its content, if you know what I mean. They're just my comfort d&p.

Caught up with the phodcast yet again and omg???? I asked for expedition 33 yap and they somewhat delivered?
Please tell me more.
I'm tempted to send something to the hard launch segment but I think I'd hate equally not being picked and being picked so maybe I'll hold out on that. I think I'll need to rewatch it when I'm not post painkiller nap kind of out of it because I cannot with them dropping their first time meeting lore. I met my now fiance on a videogame where our characters looked the same and that got us talking so they got me with that one PERSONALLY.

I loved the new episode!! Much more what I had hoped their podcast would be. It seems they are growing into it and the pressure of the first episode is falling off. Now just make it double the length please!

I am so happy we got another gaming video! In all the new content it feels cozy to come back to something familiar.
