Ugh this is why I hate the Phandom sometimes. Don't be so childish. Of course Felix doesn't want stuff in his tag, it is a video for him and stuff for him.Ablissa wrote:Just saw a post on tumblr calling everyone in the Phandom to tag all their posts with #pewdiepie just to spite him... Here it is if you guys wanna read it, I reblogged it and added my own thoughts. http://phanbliss.tumblr.com/post/144714 ... on-phandom
I'm quite sad that this is how people react to such a request from PewdiepieI don't even care why he said he doesn't want Dan and Phil in the video, this isn't the right way to respond. Sigh. Just wanted to vent really...
regarless of that post that you responded to, which i do agree is a bit immature, do you think that felix was serious though? they way i understood his comment was very tongue-in-cheek, like even almost a dare - he obviously enjoys interacting with the phandom to a certain degree, or else he wouldn't put D&P in his videos so much, right? if he hated us as a collective, he'd be way more quiet about them, because attention to a thing draws attention of the people who love the thing.Ablissa wrote:Just saw a post on tumblr calling everyone in the Phandom to tag all their posts with #pewdiepie just to spite him... I haven't seen Pewds' post/video about it, so I can't say for sure (I don't really follow his content), but that was also my first thought - that he's probably not entirely serious. It's clear that he likes and doesn't mind interacting with their fans.phamnotof wrote:regarless of that post that you responded to, which i do agree is a bit immature, do you think that felix was serious though? they way i understood his comment was very tongue-in-cheek, like even almost a dare - he obviously enjoys interacting with the phandom to a certain degree, or else he wouldn't put D&P in his videos so much, right? if he hated us as a collective, he'd be way more quiet about them, because attention to a thing draws attention of the people who love the thing.
(and on a personal note, i love seeing the random massive shit-posting that the phandom is capable of. i love silly community fun that's relatively harmless. i think that it's the kind of interactiveness that most creators crave & sure, sometimes, people take it a bit too far, but i also feel like sometimes, the criticism it gets can be boiled down to "this isn't my sense of humor")
What polaroids are you referring to? Didn't D&P hang out with the bus driver at Niagara Falls (the crew in this case was probably ahead at the venue setting up.) I'm sure that they hang out when they can.cora808 wrote:I actually find it kind of sketchy and uncool that it appears Deppy don't hang out with or associate at all with the crew. It's rather uncommon. Those polaroid photos don't show even one single photo of the two of them. Or one of them. The only time I've heard of the talent not regularly hanging with the crew is if it's a HUGE act like Madonna or Prince or something. Even performers like Motley Crue, Metallica, My Chemical Romance, Muse, Avenged Sevenfold, and Katy Perry hang out with their crew. Hell, Christina Aguilera married a production assistant on a movie she was in.
I'm thinking they probably do hang out with them, but don't necessarily want to be featured on pictures. D&P control what gets out, if they hang out in a relaxed/social setting then they probably don't always want to have even more pictures taken.cora808 wrote:I actually find it kind of sketchy and uncool that it appears Deppy don't hang out with or associate at all with the crew. Yeah I also think that they do hang out with the crew, maybe not all the time, but at least sometimes.Ablissa wrote:I'm thinking they probably do hang out with them, but don't necessarily want to be featured on pictures. when they were in the UK they hung out with their crew and Dan even said in a liveshow afterwards that one thing he missed from the tour was hanging out with the crew. So I think they do hang out with their crew but the stageshow crew like the light guy, sound guy etc. who are the same as in the UK tour.cora808 wrote:I actually find it kind of sketchy and uncool that it appears Deppy don't hang out with or associate at all with the crew. Sorry, but that's hogwash. There are SO many bands that do multiple meet & greets, interviews, shows, photoshoots, and then you look at their instagram or their twitter and they post casual photos of them and like, their guitar tech goofing off and drinking beers.Ablissa wrote:I'm thinking they probably do hang out with them, but don't necessarily want to be featured on pictures. Oh you mean that some of the people might have missunderstood his tone (or understood it entirely differently than me anyway) & think he was serious? Then yeah, I agree, it'd be slightly petty to want to spite him. I don't think that's the case for Felix esp., but I guess that outside of the bottom line, there will be people who want to just be annyoing for the sake of being annoying & that's kind of... meh. Not great. I do really think Felix enjoys it though.Ablissa wrote:I haven't seen Pewds' post/video about it, so I can't say for sure (I don't really follow his content), but that was also my first thought - that he's probably not entirely serious. I dislike the notion regardless of his real intentions though, because I know that the Phandom is capable of doing this on a larger scale even to people that don't want to interact with us, and that's why it bothered me. The whole idea of doing something just to spite someone gets to me.
(unless the OP of that tumblr post meant it all in jest as well, but then they should clarify it imo. I can see some people doing this just to annoy Felix.)
I agree with you though, I also like that the Phandom is a force to be reckoned with, I just feel like we shouldn't use it to annoy other people.
I don't mean to be a dick, but there's also SO many bands that do multiple meet & greets and then you see reports of then fucking their barely legal fans after the shows. Variety does exist. And D&P are pretty private for public figures, so it'd make sense there'd be some unspoken or even contracted rule saying that the crew shouldn't use them as clickbait on social media. I mean, they're rather epic control freaks about their public image, so they wouldn't want them posting things they haven't approved - they'd want to relax in their limited time off & as far as I can guess, relaxing for them definitely means turning the camera off.cora808 wrote:Sorry, but that's hogwash. I don't see how that's hogwash. Those bands may be like that, but we are talking about Dan and Phil here, who are notoriously private.cora808 wrote:Sorry, but that's hogwash. Yeah, exactly! What ticked me here is the tone of the post (unless that too was sarcastic? But it didn't seem that way to me), wanting to prove to Felix that the Phandom can do whatever it wants etc. I believe that if he was genuine in his request (which as you say, he probably wasn't), people shouldn't team up to try and ruin it for him.phamnotof wrote:Oh you mean that some of the people might have missunderstood his tone (or understood it entirely differently than me anyway) & think he was serious? But I will say, regardless of the intentions of some of us, I don't think that a lot of creators will actually have a huge issue with interacting with the fanbase. Attention is attention, after all, and that's what YT runs on. So it's mutally beneficial, people have their fun, YTers get an extra few clicks and comments, everyone can leave relatively happy. So yeah, the PROTIP spamming isn't exactly my cup of rum & I stay away from it personally, but I also think it's harmless & I appreciate seeing the power of the community.

I remember this quote of TomSka's from a panel that Dan was also on. "The more I share, the less people care." Which is certainly a case for me, hunger is a motivator & it keeps me fascinated.bedhead91 wrote:Do you guys think that if were a bit more open about their private lives then people (like us) would be less nosy, or do you think it wouldn't matter either way? I am 100% sure that if they were to open up with their private life as much as other youtubers do then I would lose a lot of interest in them. This is one of the reasons I don't watch YouTube that much anymore just a very few select people.bedhead91 wrote:Do you guys think that if were a bit more open about their private lives then people (like us) would be less nosy, or do you think it wouldn't matter either way? If I remember correctly that mercy girl posted a video at some point and then she deleted it almost instantly. It turned out that D&P were indeed with her and the other crew at what seemd a touristy point. I think they do hand out with the crew when they see each other but they just chose to not post anything about it and probably asked everyone in the crew not to post anything with them either for privacy reasons. As everyone already said, they share very little with us in comparison to other youtubers and they are control freaks about what they post. I think they just like to keep moments like hanging out with firends/ the crew for themselvescora808 wrote:I'm not saying they should be featured in youtube videos doing choreographed can-can dancing with every member of the crew, nor should they be name dropping every member of the crew with social media links, photos, videos, blogs, and paypal donation buttons, I'm saying there doesn't appear to be any indication that they even associate with the crew. One of the merch girls posted her polaroids and memorabilia from the tour thus far and there's casual photos of Drake, Martyn, Cornelia, dogs, etc...but none of the featured performers on the tour. Neither of them have acknowledged the crew at all on social media (as far as I can tell). There's not even a single report that I've seen thus far of them even being seen in the same room as any of the merch crew. That's highly irregular. I have toured with, worked with, and been friends with many many many bands both big and small over the last 17 years and fancy myself pretty attuned to the personalities and quirks of artists. I spent a good chunk of my life as touring crew, which is why what I'm picking up on rubs me raw.
While I do think that they could share a bit more, I don't think I would be this interested and invested in them if they shared as much as some other youtubers do.phamnotof wrote:I remember this quote of TomSka's from a panel that Dan was also on. Same! I love their content and love them as individuals. The whole Phan conspiracy makes some people more invested though, which is why it makes me wonder if it would affect anything if our assumptions were confirmed.Poe wrote:Ablissa I would definitely still follow them if they would let us into their lives. After all, I didn't enter the phandom just for their relationship and Phan conspiracy theories and I don't intend to leave for a thing like that. I would still love their content and relationship, be it platonic or romantic. As long as they are together as a duo then I'll still be around and maybe even if they were to #phandivorce and go on their own.
