Holy crap I'm psychic or something, I randomly woke up (too early!) and then got Dan's notif like one minute later wtf. I'm never up this early.

-If you're left-handed, ask a friend
-Why am I left-handed?

I liked it (I'll take any video I can get), but I think they should have kept it a bit shorter like last year's. Last year was better because it was so out of nowhere, you can't really capture that kind of spontaneity again. But this is a yearly tradition I can get behind.
After the pentagram, it occurred to me that this is what a crafting class would look like in Night Vale.

edit:
Kurapika wrote:Obviously I haven't watched the video yet and I might love it, but as of now, my opinion is...why????????

Last year's was so funny and unexpected and great!!
This year it's like "Uggh, we did this thing everyone loved last year, now we have to do it again so they keep loving us". And that's not to say they didn't enjoy making this video, because I'm sure they did, but it just doesn't feel as natural and genuine as the original.
It's like every little thing they do becomes this huge thing in the phandom, and I just wish we could enjoy little things a bit more, without having to turn them into "memes" (and I this word very loosely, because that's not actually what it is) (and I don't mean just D&P making another video, but the phandom writing "Don't cry, craft!" every fucking where).
I mean if they were going to listen to fans in order to keep us happy, we'd get more than a video or two a month. I think they actually have fun doing these (Dan said last year that was the funniest video of his all. year.). Just because the fans are going to take it too far isn't a reason for them (or you) not to do something (or they'd disconnect from the internet forever...).

I personally don't like neither of the crafting video.

I just don't feel like they really want to do this and they are angry at us for expecting them to do this.

Anyway the creepy factor is so overwhelming I feel like i'm possessed I need an exorcism.

Oh god when they poured the glitter on the table with no tablecloth on it. They'll be covered in it forever!

Glad they kept this tradition up - I enjoyed the video, very funny.

I didn't expect this at all but it absolutely made made day! I probably irritated all of my neighbours with my laughter
I just love it, the crappy camera quality, the crappy editing, the stupid humor
"why am i left handed? - everybody makes mistakes as a fellow lefty I am offended
maybe it's not as great as sqareflakes (maybe because the novelty has worn off?) but to me it was great

Awww, I didn't expect this, so it was fun to see in my sub box! (It's 5:33 am and I haven't slept, so I guess sometimes not sleeping = nice surprises lol)

I liked it. It was a bit more forced than last year's, but that's to be expected. (PINOF becomes more forced every year too. :( D&P love tradition, as do I, but sometimes it's just hard to recapture the seem magic every year.)

but it was really cute. Dan was adorable. Phil was quite funny. I forgot how they flipped the image, lol. Lots of little homages to the first one and new little details thrown in. I lol'd at the part where Phil mumbled "pro-tip" and then there was a cut; I just found that hilarious lol. Phil in general was a riot in this. "Everyone makes mistakes"

I will make one negative comment: This is the first time their hand-touching has seemed excessive to me. As in, excessively "fan-servicey"...sorry for bringing that up again, but for once, it kind of rubbed me the wrong way. They know what they're doing. They know that when every time they touch hands, thousands of their beloved "crafties" are gonna scream "omg they touched hands kill me now!" The YouTube comments and low-quality gifs are pretty much a given. And yet they do it anyway, again, and again, and in a way that doesn't actually seem natural. Idk

What would really make it good is if they realeased another video later today.

Pro tip: Don't cry, BANT!

I thought it was funny. The fact that it's mirrored, the poor quality, the unexpected pentagram, the mixed glitter face  Their dedication to keeping in character is probably the best part. And the fact that they got glitter everywhere for this because they're going to have to clean that up, and wow

I'm not happy about the revival of don't cry craft and probably having to see that everywhere again, though :x thanks Dan and Phil that's the real prank

I laughed. It was predictable, but phandom loves itself some traditions and they had to know that. It's a joke video, I didn't have expectations to begin with. It would have been very like them to just not do anything and handwave it because of rehearsals.

Also I love how Dan kept grinning and almost-laughing at Phil. I think Phil actually has some fantastic comedy improv skills, probably moreso when he's not feeling pressured with a real audience.

It's so nice of them to compliment our prank with theirs.

I echo everyone who thinks they should have done something new. I really wish the first video was left alone with no comment. Now it's a whole series and people will want one next year and... what a to-do.

That said, I LOVED it. Especially when Dan got sentimental... Another weirdly timed coincidence? ;)

Also the left-handed joke was excellent and damn do I love every poorly edited move. The questionable jump-cuts get me every time.

Wow, I didn't watch last year's, but I just watched this one and I think my soul left my body to escape from it. The stilted voices creeped me out way too much, and I couldn't laugh because I was too uncomfortable.

Was last year's like that too? I can imagine how shocking that would have been if you didn't know it was an April Fools joke.

Why be soppy if you can be a crafty. ;) That was funny, I didn't expect the pentagram, although I think Phil breaks character a bit when explaining the 'ingredients'. Haha. I wish we can have Dan laugh like maniac again, that's what done it for me last year . Love the editing, that was fun. I just hope 'don't cry, craft' will not be a thing again.

Overall,

I thought it was really funny, especially when Dan showed the pentagram :D I agree that last year's was funnier, partially because it was new then I guess, but I still enjoyed it.
I'm so worried about all the glitter though! That's going to be all over their apartment  They didn't even pour the excess glitter on a sheet or in a bag. I couldn't deal with that haha.

Kind of same, tbh? I laughed a lot just like last year, but it was predictable as heck. The novelty is definitely wearing off already, and I doubt they'd be able to achieve the same level of funniness if they keep repeating this as their April Fool's joke over and over again. Still, nice video.

Okay, I adored that! I'd actually been kind of hoping for/expecting a new twitter thing, but can't be at all upset to have been wrong. It obviously didn't have the same spontaneity as last year, but I enjoyed it just as much, and am always happy to get behind a new tradition. No idea how they get through filming it, I imagine them cracking up after every cut! The editing was so funny, adding to the weirdness of the flipped/low quality image, loved the faux-sentimentality at the start, 'unsheath your stick', and the pentagram. I do hope they had something underneath and just off camera on the table to catch all that glitter though, they'll be finding it for days even without that!

The concept's a bit old now, that's true but LMAO I loved this. The poor quality, the blank stares and the editing had me rolling Phil was AMAZING (no puns here).

"Everybody makes mistakes" omgggg

More ironic vids please!11! (We need a new meme besides 'crafting' though....)

Can you explain this comment? The "sentimental" part and the "coincidence" part? Sorry, I am slow. :(
Kurapika wrote:I'm just praying this doesn't turn into a thing they do every year.
I wouldn't mind if it did. Does it bother you because there are better things they could be doing instead, or because you don't like the influence this kind of video has on the phandom (as in it spawns cringey jokes and stuff)?

And we've moved on from this topic a bit, but I just wanted to say:
swofro wrote:Just be yourself however you want, Dan. Be happy. Be random. Be political. Be philosophical. I don't care. As long as you don't kill someone or do something unforgivable, I will still love you because I am a trash.

It's ridiculous how much I relate to everything you said here. I guess that I, too, am a trash.

I absolutely love the character Phil plays, Dan's not really doing anything out of normal but Phil's tone and everything is so, em, creepy, but in a good way? :D the whole thing is as predictable as it gets, but I laughed through the video anyway.

same. idk, but it was really disturbing to watch this one. idk. not in a bad sense, but in a 'this is not my kind of humour' sense. And it was not only the touching. it was the whole thing. like instead of fun they poured their anger into it. it was so ominous... (or maybe I just lack sleep and I just watched it once so this is the first impression ) all the innuendos were in the 'yeah, you like that Katie' sense .... (yeah, you like to watch us do this, so we'll do this. in a creepy angry way) I'm not saying it was bad, but just... it reminded me of the tomska horse sketch... idk why
I'll rewatch it when I'm back maybe it was just strange first impression

Love these, those are some of my faves parts of the video.
I wouldn't mind them doing it again next year, it can be a bit of tradition. As long as they enjoy making them, I will probably enjoy watching them.

Ehhh I have to disagree here; their hands touched for literally 4-5 seconds. I think we're starting to be hyper-aware of any physical contact between them more than they are at this point (and we criticize them for it when any hesitation is noticeable).

They don't touch, they're being overly cautious. They do touch, they're being overly fan-servicey/fake. And I don't think anything about this video is supposed to seem natural  but the hand-touching as a means to forceful glitter-slapping fit right in imo. Even if they're aware that 4-5 seconds of hand contact is going to end up in slowed down gifs on tumblr... so is literally everything else they do including the briefest of eye contact. They really can't win either way.
