While we're sharing theories, here's an OT one under the cut regarding suit cases, Australian hotel rooms and LIES. Its tin-hatty as fuck. What's wrong with me recently?? Must need another hobby

SO. Remember bedroom-gate in Aus? Well, it busted up my phan goggles for a hot minute but like many of you, on second (and third, fourth, fifth etc etc) watch the beginning is jarring, strangely shot and rushed. But we all know DITLs are scripted to fuck, especially the beginnings. Nothing new to report there.

General consensus seemed to be the room situation was bullshit. Now I personally don't have a problem with that, and get why they did it, but on to the matter at hand...

One of the things I was looking out for when I realised this was Phil's suitcase. You can see Dan's on the suitcase stand and I did wonder where Phil's was hiding if they really did share that room. They wouldn't be daft enough to leave it in there, but where was it hiding?

Then I noticed this:

Bottom left corner - some blue thing with a label on it. Speculated that it might be a suitcase with a flight label on it, but kept it to myself cos who the fuck knows and felt like I was reaching.

Then comes the HK DAPG vid, where you can see it clearly in the background at various points.

From 0:05 onwards and throughout. Blue suitcase in the background. From the Aus DITL we know Dan's is black so must be Phil's.

Then comes Dan's ls last night where you can see a blue suitcase outside Phil's bedroom door.

So I'm pretty sure that's Phil's suitcase we're seeing for a millisecond in the DITL. Why was it standing closed up in the middle of the room when they had neither arrived nor were leaving the hotel that day? My theory: that's where they hid it. He packed it back up before filming and dragged it into whoever's room next door where he did the 'waking up' scenes so it wouldn't be seen when they filmed in the main room for the rest of the video. The glimpse is so fleeting it wouldn't surprise me if it was missed in filming/editing.

Or like, he really was staying in that room and made a habit throughout the tour to pack his suitcase up each morning and leave it stood in the middle of the room, just to open it back out at the end of the day

It was lowkey less conspiracy-y than i was hoping for what i don't get is, why would they make a fake account to watch each others' live shows? what's the big deal with them watching the others show? youd think theyd need to do it for work to stay in sync with their joint brand. i don't get the controversy watching each others live show would cause. if you have a theory on that maybe your darla theory will make more sense to me the inside joke part sounds plausible to me tho!

I think so too. Phil is probably really bored by it. But I can totally relate to Dan. I love his music talks because there is nothing I enjoy more than people with strong opinions on music. And his usually corelates with mine. The part where he talked about trends in pop music is basically what I told a friend just a couple of days ago.

I actually did pull out the Phil "we/our" mentions (or times he inserted Dan into a story that could have been told singularly) from the last livestream (discounting joint video/tatinof mentions, since obviously those will have both of them). Basically I think it could be true, it's definitely an interesting theory and it sounds to me like something they would do - for example,

Last night, Dan had a premium to give Darla a nickname and he thought about it and then texted Phil to see if something was offensive. It made me lol because what does Phil have to do with Darla's nickname eh? Unless Darla IS Phil hahahaha. Plus the time it took for him to send it was so quick, surely he didn't have time to type "is blah blah offensive?" in that time? Maybe he just texted the nickname? Maybe he just sent a text saying "flop" lol.

So basically Dan got a joke from Phil during one of the only occasions in which they still do totally separate content, and naturally abandoned the chat and totally ignored us to text Phil something while we looked on unknowingly third wheeling? Too plausible

No, I agree with you! I have mentioned that Phil's inclusionary mentions were up on here several times, mostly because it caught me off guard. I just think it might be interesting to see in graph form.

Also, I almost always require my Dan to be paired with a Phil as well, but Dan has worn me down lately and has wormed a little soft spot into my Phil-centric heart. Ugh. Although, apparently not enough for me to forego my own free time to re-watch a ls for statistical purposes.

John Green and other YouTubers

I appreciate that John Green mention about deppy and love that it is not his first time expressing admiration. While it was indeed important to hear Matt G's opinion about Dan (and Phil for that matter) it's better to hear what genuine, well-rounded people have to say. Honestly, most negative criticism comes from those they had one-sided beef with (Charlie, Matt, Emma) and overlapping that the strange creepy fanboyingness of Onion-boy and Evan. Now can you look through this list and say that any of these people are particularly "nice", "respected" or even "unproblematic"? Aside from any other negative criticism from those outlier YouTubers who have no idea who they are, don't watch their content or are ignorant of their content, deppy are overall very respected in their profession.

We tend to only focus on the negativity rather than their positivity (mostly) that we kind of forget that soooo many youtubers hold respective opinions of deppy and put them on a pedestal (albeit some pandering to the phandom *cough cough*). Deppy are put into this stardom despite their average (in terms of youtube celebrity) subscriber counts. I often wonder if this is because they fill the criteria by so many youtubers for appearing genuine, hardworking and honestly deserving of success, particularly how they as OG Vloggers flourish on a platform where vlogging is deemed inferior to "creative content." (you get what I mean)

Ok, maybe this is a strange theory, but I think Dan refuses some premium messages so as to not take the money, but still does what it says anyway. I have a kind of fascination with watching the popups in the corner when he goes through all the messages, but sometimes they don't pop up, which makes me think he rejected the message. Maybe Darla is just a fan-girl who tries to send the same massages every week, and he feels bad taking her money? Its a stretch, I'll admit. I wish the replays showed the chat and messages >.<

I do see 99% of the chat call outs he does go by though, so I think those are legit.

Liking the Darla theory, human, but she isn't the only 'fan' account who gets a lot of premiums opened/shoutouts from D&P without fail every week. A user called haley-phandonalds got 3 premiums read out on Dan's ls and usually gets one read out by both of the boys per week - she has also gotten twitter replies - and someone called ceciliex ALWAYS gets multiple premiums read out every live show. (It's something of a running joke with me and one of my friends; haley, ceciliex and darla send us into rages because they always get noticed with premiums that have pointless content.) ... Man that sounds salty. I promise I'm not much.

I'm thoroughly enjoying all the conspiracy theories going on - especially because I recall Darla sending Dan a message saying 'notice me!' and thinking it was really Phil beind that has me all

I think you are being very unfair to updatedphan in general. They are a great account, honestly they always post the relevant infos about deppy and super quickly and make it very easy to stay up to date. They also usually stay out of drama. The mods are also pretty funny on their personal accounts and yeah they do lurk here Im pretty sure.

That being said, I agree that I don't understand that particular tweet to Keemstar and what they were trying to do here. It looks like a huge dig at Dan when it is clearly not what they wanted to do. (i mean they wanted to shade Onision for sure but that didn't work).

There's been quite a lot of things that have happened with Darla which have made me go a bit LOL OMG in regards to the theory actually, so I do need to try and work on the thread. Everytime there's a "Hi Darla!" they both always smirk too, so it fits that it's a bit of an inside joke OR it's the other one signed in watching and being a dick lol. Oh no! Well my feedback would be I think that's entirely plausible. Its seems as though they do watch each other's shows and how else they gonna do that without logging in as themselves and causing a complete shitshow? Maybe its funny to them especially since they've worked out there's a real Darla who came to a M&G idk though, part of me thinks they're just like coconutswaggy et al. I have been thinking about joint live shows lately (they are my favorite). When and why did they stop them, or stop joining in at the end of them? I have a tin-hatty theory about why they stopped but want to know if it was discussed before. And if so what was the reason most people thought?
