And Gosh I'm sorry for keeping on about busgate but I couldn't find if it's been talked about already, ... do you think they're making the bed situation a big deal because it was on YTR? Since the doc is so much bigger and more formal than they're used to, they theoretically could reach a wider audience, and they didn't have full creative control, etc. ? Because (from what I've noticed) #busgate type things don't really happen much anymore (like the closest I can think of was their australian video, and that wasn't really big.

I'm not even sure if I made sense, but I kinda wonder how different their YTR documentary is compared to what they would've done on their own.

Still waiting for that tell all book 30 years from now when Dan starts to run out of money because he has too many designer clothes and grand pianos in his Los Angeles mansion on Mount Olympus (after his failed stage career and #phandivorce)

At this point I'm not mad about the lies, I have learned to expect them, I just want to know why, and the truth. I lied to a lot of people for a long time, and it was so draining and stressful. A life of freedom from having to think about what you are going to say to whom is the way to go.

Of course, there is always the idea that they are really just two totally oblivious antisocial single dorks,( who happen to lose important vegas footage and have to refilm bed scenes because the lighting was off or whatever excuse they will pull when confronted on it) but that believability stretches thinner every year.

Someone join me in analyzing 1:58 to 2:12 in the VR 360 video. (pst watch in 1440 if you can, 1080 looks like a potato and 4k is laggy af) This segment of Dan teasing Phil about "fans" being interested in down the shirt action is so different than their normal banter. Usually it's phil making an innuendo and dan blushing, but this time it's Phil getting blushy and flustered. Watching Dan is also interesting because he is very focused on watching Phil, then he says he's not sorry, but his eyes look straight at the camera and he looks kinda embarrassed and fond. Makes me think the "not even sorry" is just a line he spouts automatically since it doesn't match his body language at all. Phil then changes the subject to warm-ups (only because there are no houseplants available)

Pairing this with the bit about phils cute tummy (t was smashing gender roles, I misremembered, but still hes bringing up phils body for no reason.) in the small sutc shirt makes me wonder if Dan is trying to publically boost phils self esteem, or if he notices that more fans are starting to find phil attractive and is playing that angle up on purpose? Or maybe he's just more open about being phil trash #1 lol.

I noticed this too! Me thinks they refilmed it because when they first filmed it Dan "won", then when Phil said he got the bedroom on twitter they realized it didn't match up with the footage (jk I don't actually think this) (or do I)

Honestly I found this part of the doc super funny, it made me laugh out loud, but I don't understand why they chose to put this up instead of another part of the doc (on today of all days too).

If Dan and Phil are in a relationship, that they've been trying to hide from the fanbase for seven years. They upload the bus tour video to a main channel, so that everyone will see that they are just friends and nothing more. They've picked this date in particular, their 'phanniversary', because uploading a 'we're just friends' statement on this particular date dispels the idea of the phanniversary as something romantic. It works to counteract the idea that this date is of romantic importance to them, and so dispel the idea that they are in a relationship.

Their motivation therefore is not just 'shits and giggles'. It's not just 'trolling'. It's not just to 'watch the phandom chase their tail wondering if phan is real'. It's about something serious. It's about reserving their privacy. It's about stopping the fanbase from knowing that they are in a relationship. It's not just to have a light hearted laugh and a trivial joke and go on a bit of a troll this evening.

As I understand it, #busgate is the conspiracy theory that Dan and Phil shared the 'master' bed in their bus, and that they lied when they said Dan was sleeping in one of the bunks. Consensus seems to be that:
- the bunk is too small for Dan who is a tall noodle
- the bunk is too uncomfortable
- Phil would be mean to let Dan sleep in the bunk while taking the big double all to himself
- even if they are friends it would not be weird to share under these circumstances
leading to #busgate

i'm going full here but to support this theory we have:
1- the rumour going around that someone at a meet and greet asked them who got the bed and they both said 'me' or something like that, just a rumour but still
2- the awkward pause in the joint hotel room liveshow when talking about the bed

While I do agree with you on somethings in your argument, bluewho, I don't agree with the fact that they purposefully picked this day to release this one particular scene. All youtube red teasers and content seem to come out on Wednesdays, not just for Dan and Phil but most if not all youtube red content.
For the past five or so weeks, (aside from the "what tatinof and the story of tatinof are about" videos) all their youtube red stuff has fallen on a Wednesday. The phanniversary just happened to fall on one of their upload dates. And they couldn't have uploaded it last week since they had to put out the stuff for stand up to cancer was happening that weekend. They couldn't have done it any Wednesday before that because both movies were not out yet. It was just the way the scheduling of the youtube red teaser stuff fell.

And also this isnt real really related to the post but, honestly, the tour bus tour is a laughable scene to me, it's so over dramatic for no apparent reason, even they knew that. The whole situation in itself is a massive parody of MTV cribs and literally every band tour bus tour, it's like one big ironic thing and we all know Dan and doing stuff "ironically" .
Also I noticed more parts that were refilmed during that?? The beginning of the video where they opened the tour bus, they didn't have their mics clipped to them, just like with the whole scene before rock paper scissors and when they are in the lounge part of the bus and Phil lays down on the couch, he's wearing the socks from the clearly refilmed later on rock paper scissors. I have a friend that's trying to convince me that it was an audio issue or something and that's why they had to refilm it. But even with no mics on, they had crisp audio, so why didn't they just use the first take, refilm the same day or rewatch the first half to make sure there is no big yet minor continuity errors before filming again?
