Prob the only person here not looking forward to the Undertale videos. I have tried to watch them playing it but the game is so boring (imo). Not even the bants could keep me interested. :|

Also, I did not notice until now, the 3/4 Fantastic Foursome meetup with Chris was not brought up in the liveshow? I'm disgusted with you all for forgetting, lol. Unless, I missed it or Phil deliberately left it out...shame.... :gg:

It definitely picks up, I promise! Dan and Phil arent doing the game justice by delaying it so long. The best lets plays of Undertale are people willing to put in the effort and enjoy the game.

Late liveshows reaction; I loved it and joint liveshows remain infinitely better than those their solo snoozefests but... there's still some kind of attitude that Dan's got going on lately that I really dislike.
The 2x of 'that's what they want' was unnecessary and not funny or anything like that at all. Just rude and uncomfortable, don't say/do anything then. The tone if his voice/his face during the bit where they said they'd be uploading more on DAPG soon... more uncomfortable feelings from me. In combination with that recent tweet it makes me feel like he really can't be arsed with that channel anymore and regrets making it. Then the shit about his hairstyle... 'People who don't know much about fashion trends-' < He actually went there. When did he start putting feathers up his own arse for his now superior knowledge of fashion? That I think his current haircut looks badly done and doesn't suit him in the first place ain't got shit to do with not knowing fashion trends.
More positive things:
- Phil in glasses
-The idea of Dan and Phil texting each other discussing what to do while sat in the same room because Dan can't talk is kinda cute.
- He might not have been stalking but that doesn't explain him liking Phan art ;)
- 'I guess they'll never believe us again' As if anyone of us ever did.
- Phil's annoyed little 'Dan!' when his genuine advice keeps getting interrupted.
- Rant about the Pokémon and Litten's ugly final stage. I'd like to point out though that the Fennekin/Braixen/Delphox line didn't feature a Fire/Fighting type, but Fire/Psychic. Possibly my favorite Starter line in the entire franchise.
- The end of the TATINOF era is coming \o/
- Dan saved Phil's houseplant.
- I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they do those calendar shoots
- Them fighting with Siri was the best bit omg domestic bickering And of course Dan has Australian male Siri. Of course he does.

So despite Dan being exhausting at times, it was a good liveshow for me

I used to be interested in it, but because of all the long pauses between episodes I'm not into it anymore and I've forgotten what's going on at this point. And I can't just quickly rewatch the previous episode to refresh my memory either, they're quite long and I don't have that kinda time. Great mistake on their part, they treated the game with an ongoing story line the same way they treat the Sims. I don't want them to do anymore long Let's Plays if they're all gonna be messes like Undertale.

It's the silly voices for the characters that started to annoy me. I just think I hate the game in general

I fear it's going to end up a Christmas week of Undertale.

I would prefer a week of undertale (so it can just be done with already) than dilmas again. Dilmas was cute the first time but I feel like it wouldn't be as good if they did it again. What they did last year with the shopping simulator and stuff was eh

Yeah maybe. Also if you think about it they really aren't that high up. From the right angle (i.e. across the street) I think it would be fairly easy to see into their living room (and Dan's room, but Dan has said he keeps his blinds shut in there because he likes it dark and he likes to sleep in late, lol.)

I love the voices they do for Undertale so much, it's the best part of it for me. I've sometimes found them a bit of a chore to get through at first because they're so long, but then once they get going I'm gripped and looking forward to them finishing it all. I hope they don't take forever to do any future long playthroughs, though, it does affect how interested everyone is. Now they're wrapping up Tatinof, though, they probably won't have that problem.

I'd love Dilmas again, but I'd love them to Play Hello Neighbour. That game looks hilariously terrifying.

Vague thoughts on Dan & DAPG...

If anyone watches Mark's live show playing of Undertale, he talked about how he was originally excited to do a lets play of it on his channel, but when he posted the first episode, there were so many overeager fans of the game telling him what to do and criticizing his choices that it ruined it for him, and he dropped playing it, because he felt like he couldn't enjoy it on his own terms.

Honestly, I can't help but wonder if there's a similar problem (for Dan especially) on DAPG. If Dan had played it on his own, he'd probably love it as much as other people do. But on the gaming channel... not so much, and probably for the same reasons. "You have to do this" and "that voice is horrible" and so on.

And that maybe extends to the entire channel too. At first they were excited because they love games and had a lot of enthusiasm... then reality hits. Because even if you love what you do, when you're doing it for an audience/money, it's a JOB. And you have hundreds of people just demanding Sims videos or trendy-game-of-the-week or criticizing what/how you wanted to play and why did you do it that way and etc, etc. It can very easily suck the fun out it.

With Dan being passionate about things he loves, I think there's a much firmer line now between things he plays for himself and things he plays for us, and Undertale may be the proof that they can't be mixed successfully.

All speculation of course, maybe they still love the channel.
That's my socializing quota for the month up.

Oh man, there are so many GOOD games they could be playing on their channel. Not even just new ones, but so many retro classics becoming available on multiple platforms. I love me some Sims because its relaxing and you dont have to worry about losing plot, but there is no reason to be bored of the gaming channel. After all their branding is about being a nerd so what better way to show it than a gaming channel?

I know how it feels to keep work and personal enjoyment separate. You wanna do something for yourself. But with the huge selection in the world there is no reason to feel stuck in a rut.

Just want to de-lurk for a minute to say that I completely agree that this is probably Dans issue with DAPG. Everytime they post a video the comments section is full of people saying "why didn't you do this" and "do you think they know (some massive spoiler)." it wouldn't surprise me if the comments had already spoiled Untertale, and as someone who has Dans level of hatred for spoilers, this could make him not want to finish the series as he wont enjoy it as much knowing how it ends.

On a more positive note I have just been majorly enjoying the last month in the post-baking universe. It gives me high hopes for 2017 (yes, I know this is a bad idea but I don't care )

so phil just randomly tweeted a phandom member at 1:38 am?? i wouldn't be surprised if they're filming pinof right now with their jet lag and that was part of the video lol but there seems to be no explanation coming for that tweet. the girl said she had tweeted him tonight but his tweet wasn't in reply to anything she said.

This person found a plausible reason... but lol how terrifying. Right after assuring everyone they're not stalkers, they tweet someone to creep on their reaction.

Any opinions or predictions on what the deal with the bloopers will be this year? Dan made it weird last year by coming off kind of resentful at the expectation for them. I think if he doesn't want that to be part of the tradition (as it's only been the last few years), he should be upfront and just say nope, not this year. I love having more footage, but it's also fun to wonder what was cut (like in the first one..). Anyway, just a thought.
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

If they are filming it right now, at least they already have an excuse if it end up being another hot sexual mess

Brilliant "Bork", Phil. Good man, giving the phandom some randomness to discuss ;)

Having woken up in the middle of the night, it's funny to know what they're up to.

Good points about the gaming channel, hadn't thought of people's comments taking the fun out of it, but I know how pressure ruins fun things, that could well be at least part of it.

i'm not going to quote every opinion from the last 3 pages, but i agree with many of the observations of the last few weeks and they were said better than I could.

17.45 "I was already terrified of going because it was a social situation..."

I wonder if the submissiveness with cutting off his own train of thought when Phil asks (tells) or asking permission to tell a story is related to how Dan feels about his own ability to socialise. because I do think his whole career, in a way, is socialising. sometimes it feels like watching one giant long very intimate therapy session, and i don't get that feeling from Phil. how Dan presents himself online, how he acts at awards shows, how he speaks to followers in liveshows, how he speaks to (or avoids) peers, what he prints in their books, it's all the same process. making a video or presenting yourself online can be a solitary act of self-expression, you can do it and walk away. but not so much when you're earning income from it. it becomes a constant two-way stream. what he experiences is not what 99% of us experience, and how we use social media and how we operate in society as an individual. what makes Dan easy to relate to and a great online personality are also probably the reasons he shouldn't be doing this for a living, and that's a difficult dichotomy.

i relate to that sense of relief in letting someone take the decision from you, when you don't trust yourself/are exhausted with yourself and your own tendencies, particularly if they're being exacerbated during a period of time in your life. i don't think it's unhealthy to rely on someone in the way Dan seems to whenever they're together. i do wonder however how much he does it. i hope for his own sake that he's able to swing back again soon (for life is always a see-saw, not a one-way trajectory). i'm picking up on lots of behaviour i recognise from other periods the last month or so; increased fidgeting in liveshows, pulling silly facial expressions or grimacing to seemingly mask deadpan-ness, kind of out-of-the-blue shadiness (i do think he's fixated on the fanservice thing lately), sometimes jarring out-there sexuality, self-deprecating and nihilistic comments. attention seeking reblogging and liking online, etc. Mixed in with all this are amazing, positive things he should be owning and expressing, and genuinely funny moments, and pride in his personal relationships and friendships (i sense a renewed desire for the later, perhaps through hanging out with Pj lately from the spontaneous mentions; he represents someone established and familiar but not necessarily who he has been close to). the impulsiveness that comes from an unsettled period of change is a double-edged sword. Phil is also flourishing so fast it's hard to keep up, he becomes realer to me by the day, but it doesn't feel like watching the same movie as Dan's. their energy is balancing one another at the moment, and they are so very lucky to have that (and I think they know it and that is where the urgency and fondness still springs from). the one thing I relish more than watching two people who just work together is watching an individual come into their own, though. on their own terms, no apologies.

unrelated: totes agree with the dilemma of the gaming channel. that's par for the course artistic/commercial struggle though, right? Phil reassuring Dan he doesnt have to post in Dec and separate comment about Phil wanting more gaming channel content have meaning but i'm not sure what.

was this already posted?

Image

if they've done the same thing as last year and already filmed within 24 hours of asking for questions, i can definitely see how this would reflect in the tag. not surprised Wirrow liked it, he continues to be quietly defensive of them in a way i find endearing. they indeed encourage it with their Pinof choices every year though, it's like an inescapable catch 22 and comes back to Dan's seeming self-consciousness with the fanservice/baking vid comments lately.

This never occurred to me, and it's a very good point. I hope it's not true because, while I may not be a gamer myself, watching people play things they enjoy is enjoyable to me. It would suck if the pressure of the audience in the comments has drained their enjoyment of that channel.

I'd been thinking that, well, they've been so busy this year, haven't they? And even last year, too, with book writing and touring and resting in-between touring, so maybe just wait and see what happens in the coming year once TATINOF is all over.

(TBH, I kind of would love it a lot if they played an older game that they've played before, know well, and love already as a long let's play. Like one of the Final Fantasy games or something. But then, I'm not a gamer and maybe them playing something old wouldn't draw in the gamer crowd? *taps chin*)

I love this so much. Seriously, so fucking much. And I love talking about the two of them individually, because you're right; there change in both of them lately is palpable but it's not the same sort of change (even if the goal is to the same end) and they don't express things the same way. I was just going through the PINOF8 tag on twitter. Is it always so unpleasant/intrusive/rude? Or is it worse this year? I have seen some showing pictures for the v-day vid, and a ton telling them to come out or kiss or propose, etc. There are barely any usable ones I could see, and hardly any of those were fun. Is this the normal tone of the tag? If so I am surprised they still do these. If not I could see the PINOFs ending soon since they aren't getting too much cooperation, just trolls out for a good time. I don't know how I am so surprised by this but I am. I am amazed at how many people can be so, what is a good word..., icky? I mean some of the tweets are just so rude/uncalled for. :?

After seeing the tag I am not as excited about the video as I was before. If this general attitude is unusual I could see it having a negative effect on how they act in it. Could it change the forward motion we have been seeing in them acting more relaxed with each other? I hope not, but after what I saw I wouldn't really be too surprised if it does effect their on screen demeanor. :sideeye:

I don't really look at the stuff that is sent to them daily too much, and responses to tweets I stopped looking a long time ago. Those are different though since they don't have to look through those, but this tag they do (assuming they do) look through to get material for the video. Is this the kind of stuff they get tweeted? (I mean the majority of it?) If so wow people suck more than I thought, and right now my outlook on humanity is pretty bleak *coughTrumpcoughbrexitcough*. :tsk:

someone who remembers better correct me, but i think it was the same deal last year? we were all rolling our eyes at the majority of the tag and then it was over, they'd already filmed. none of the ones that made it in the video i recall reading, so they weren't selecting from ones upvoted to the top.

2014 i remember being slightly more chilled. and i wasn't around yet for 2013.

this is an interesting point about root and cause being two different things, especially so i think about current causes vs unchanging root of an issue, but i'm too spacey to analyse further.
