Is it safe to say that this is Dan's most successful video in terms of views? Not that that matters, but I happened to look at the view count a few minutes ago. It has almost 960,000 views. In what? 22 hours? And an ENORMOUSLY positive like vs. dislike ratio: 224,000 vs 460. It's a wonderful video to have such a response so quickly.

EDIT: I did some investigation and Social Blade has this video ranked third for most positively rated in terms of views-to-like ratio. Also, in the minutes since I originally posted this, it's gained 10,000+ views and 2,000 likes.

Re: upcoming video - ugh, I'm so torn. I love that we're getting what surely must be Truth Bombs, I hate that it involves Hazel. Why, just why couldn't they play with someone else??? At least Tomska is going to be in it.

Yeah, as much as I hate to say it that def wasn't my favorite Phil LS. I suppose I was just really looking forward to a gaming stream, due to me being happy they were doing it on a Thursday as I can't watch live on Saturdays combined with the fact that I just had a completely crap day yesterday, so I was kinda anticipating it haha. So I acknowledge that my perception was going to be a bit warped since I'm in such a negative mood, but even with that in mind, it still felt a bit meh.

I feel like maybe the decision to switch a gaming LS for a younow was last minute? Because he seemed really under-prepared with topics to talk about. Perhaps the gaming collab took longer to film than expected or something. I remember thinking when he was going on and on about the sweets "boy he's really stretching this out" when that sort of thing usually doesn't stick out to me. Like it seems like he usually comes with a list of anecdotes and general topics to use but it almost felt like he was winging it in this one. Just the feeling I got.

I admit I was part of the population that was maaaybe hoping for a joint LS on the 19th, but oh well. No one to blame for my own unfounded hopes letting me down. And idk, I'm not... really hyped for the gaming collab, but I've been pleasantly surprised before.

Of course I know every LS can't be a standout or be "eventful" or whatever. It wasn't completely unenjoyable for me or anything like that. Particularly I loved hearing about his dream, it made me laugh so much. And the story of how they filmed the bird poop part in Dan's video.

I can see why, but that still makes me so happy. People can be real dicks about mental health, so dan putting himself out there was a huge risk and he is so brave for it. He was so well spoken and I’m glad this video is going to be the video to inform so many people about clinical depression. Depression is one of those mental illnesses that I feel people think they know about, but many of the information isn’t accurate.

I like YouTube videos very sparingly, but I liked this video the second I saw the title. Even though it is not at all shocking to me that Dan deals with depression it was still really shocking to me? I figured it would be about his social anxiety but this was extremely real and personal. The fact that he made that video is amazing so I can see why a lot of people feel similar to me right now!

(I honestly still feel weird since watching the video. I’m very surprised it had such an impact on me! I know I’m not alone though which is comforting.)

Agreed. That bit got me. But it totally encapsulates that feeling of waking up in a depressive state. You know immediately. At least I do and it seems like Dan does.

Same here I love Tom and his vlogs with dan and Phil are always really funny. Honestly, the dream would've been them colabing with Tom and Elliot. But I don't think they know Elliot that well. I don't like Hazel, but I'll just focus on the boys!

thats for sure new! The mine turtle plushies said they ship on December 7th! I'm so happy that his new shop is though irl digital! I know how their returns work and everything so it's good. I've had a feeling since he said he was closing his old shop that he'd probably sign with irl digital for some reason.

Phil's live show was good. I mean I do notice when he doesn't wanna talk about a lot of things he does tend to talk about some kinda food. Example was when they came back from Vidcon, phil spent most of the live show talking about fruits. I kinda get why he does that but also to me, I makes me a little annoyed. But then again, there wasn't really much to talk about as they're waiting to annouce the board game and stuff so it's fine.
But also when are we going to get a proper gaming video again? I mean yeah we've had live streams and stuff but when was the last proper one? Was it dil? I can't remember. Ether way a new gaming video would be nice before spooky week.

Late to the party, but that video was a lot to process. I absolutely loved it. I've been a casual dinof fan since 2012 though I only really fell into the trash can this year, but I've always felt very connected with Dan. I'm 2 years older than him and have a vagina, but I always saw a lot of myself in him from sexual ambiguity to depression. That's why the content of this video didn't come as a shock to me, though the existence of the video at all is pretty remarkable.

He did a really great job describing depression and it's effects. And I am so glad that he talked about medication! I originally went on antidepressants in 2010 and stayed on them for several years (without a therapist. oops). I was in a pretty good place, so I went off of them (without a therapist. bad idea) and was okay for awhile (after the withdrawal, which totally sucked), but I slowly slipped back under until an epic breakdown in late 2014 that kept me off of work for almost a year. I am now on different drugs and see a therapist regularly, but...I know that I can do better.

I've kinda been coasting by, by Dan's video really brought it home to me that I need to up my self-care game. I haven't exercised in a few months (because my sport is so fucking expensive!), I have no real sleeping pattern whatsoever, and I've been eating like shit. Dan has inspired me to fix these things, because while I'm not in a hole right now, I can definitely see myself sliding down that way and I didn't realize it until I watched his video.

This video is so important. I really just want to show it to everyone so they can maybe start to understand.

We need a like or thumbs up button here, because yes to this post. Not only it sets the mood perfectly but is a beautiful shot it reminded me of some movie shots that take your breath away because of their rawness.

I really liked this ls. It keeps getting shorter and shorter which is a bummer but he could have easily cancelled as I agree with everyone that it seemed a bit last minute. Idk why but it just seemed a little more authentic and just whatever. Nothing overly great or funny or "on" but I think that part of why I liked it. It seems that he just said whatever was natural. Loved his joke back about the vase and whatnot. Idk what I am trying to say, if just feel like a different vibe. I get why people may not have LOVED it but I totally dug the vibe.

I had a similar response. Kind of a nudge to be more aware of my self care. I've started back up my daily walks, which I've always known have helped me, but something that I recently ignored.

As an aside, does anyone think that it was intentional to showcase the gaming shelf in Dan's Sep. 5th ls (between 29 and 31 min) as a sorta hype for their board game? As a way to pique our interest in board games to prepare for the release?

On one hand, it was such a clear, prolonged shot of the shelf that lead to screenshot fueled analysis of their collection lasting several pages.
But on the other hand, a month and a half seems too far from the release date to seem like a strategic product placement.

I'm a bit but thought it plausible.

There has definitely been a bit of an increase in mentions of board games over the last while- I can think of a few instances of them answering questions asking them to play board games on the gaming channel in but I agree with you in feeling a little conflicted on whether they are actually calculated enough in their planning to change liveshow locations in the hopes that people will focus on the board games on the shelf.

They clearly are business minded and certainly have been known to drop hints that become more apparent in hindsight. They are also planners to an extent that would seem to exceed the whole " we don't know what we're doing ever" schtick. They also must know how much everything is analysed and are already careful about how much they reveal so it isn't really a huge leap to think that they might use those investigative fandom tendencies to their advantage when it suits them.

I am looking forward to seeing what they have come up with when they do reveal it next week in the collab and I always enjoy Tom. I'm pretty sure I'll order the game for a Christmas present so I guess the hype has worked at least a little bit!

very late, but i had decided to take a step back untill the video came out and i had seen it. I ended up watching it five times (twice with my bestf.). It was just amazing, everyth has already been said but im soo proud of him and his growth through out the years.

Very excited to see them finnally play a boardgame. But do you think itll be more than one? As in one round of truth bombs and then another round of scrabble? or maybe they played that just with eachother without filming it and the main focus will be on the new game??

Like you, I'd be really interested to hear his side of the story, but I totally get why he didn't share much. There is a lot of mental illness in my family, and a lot of my closest friends have experienced severe mental illness (much worse than anything I myself have dealt with), so I have experienced what it's like to be there and support someone through rough times. I find that it's difficult to talk about without a) making what someone else went through all about yourself and diminishing their struggles and b) telling someone else's story. I'd guess he probably feels like it's mostly Dan's story to tell, and while he's happy to share how much he loved the video and how important he thinks it is, he's not going to share actual details of that experience as it's not really his place to do so. If that makes sense? Not that he wouldn't be well within his rights to talk about what it's like to be there for someone with a mental illness (and I would really appreciate him doing so!), but it's a difficult subject to traverse appropriately.

I think the main reason is her use of the n word on twitter recently, as well as her general attitude of blunt rudeness that she likes to disguise as shameless honesty. A lot of people find her very pretentious, and she has often acted very immaturely and seemingly created drama out of nothing. It's all on her IDB thread (under 'Other Youtubers'). I'm not a huge fan of her personally, and find her grating, but I will admit that she does have quite good chemistry with Phil so I'm willing to give the video a chance, despite how much I wish she wasn't a part of it. I'd also add that I can definitely think of worse youtubers they could have had in a collab.

Pretty sure this coincides with her new shop going live via IRL Digital and the chance to promo her merch. She’s wearing her top in the picture they all took. But god she’s insufferable, not looking forward to seeing her in it at all. But long time coming to see Tom on the gaming channel, I’m so excited for that lol I love Tom.

And I just think Hazel has an unpleasant attitude, both online in general and about other creators, and also in real life from the one time I met her.
