kuensukki you and I must be on the same wave length. I believe the voldy was real and that the leak caused an enormous amount of pain for them. Not just the leak itself, which if they weren't out to family (or wanted to be in general) could be awful, but the way each of them handled it affected the other one. And they are 2 different people who handle stressful situations differently. I can see Phil shutting down emotionally and Dan being "fine, be that way" at least at first. With Dan being so admittedly emotional it must have been so hard on him both of them. For them to have survived that and be better than ever personally and professionally says a lot about them as people -- (again, why I have so much respect for their character).
Re: the valentine's day video, I definitely agree about Phil shutting down emotionally. In the fandom it seems we always portray Dan as the one who initiated the supposed 2012 breakup, but I was thinking about it the other day, and man, the video is such a intimate, raw side of Phil. Like, I totally could understand if Phil's tendency to shy away from expressing opinions has to do not just with not wanting to alienate viewers, but also the fact that the world's already been privy to a very personal part of his life. if i was in his position i'd be fine with holding back and being more private after that. idk.
Maybe I'm too much of a "Dan girl" but I only recently thought about the video leak from Phil's perspective and how absolutely vulnerable that must have made him.
I know, kinda gets you in the and you too alittledizzy

I know there are several loyal fans on here who are worried that they are enmeshed, and would like to see them do more individually and move away from joint branding, and I do see those arguments. They are probably pretty enmeshed. But I think that's only a serious problem when the relationship is toxic or destructive, or if one person is dominating the other.
We only see a sliver (if any) of their "real" lives, but I don't get that impression. They seem to be very loving, supportive equals who don't always agree on everything, but do agree on how to respectfully work those issues out. They do things alone, (collabs, interviews, documentary) but they truly enjoy being together and as some folks said, they bolster each other and give each other confidence that I'm not sure they would have independently.
I have faith in them, but maybe they don't always have the same inner confidence alone.
And ultimately, whatever makes them
happy is what is "right" for them, not our own projections.
(like the phantasy I have of them coming out. Not coming out verbally, but just doing the things that couples do, kiss, hold hands at a premiere, buy a house/dog together, something and never addressing it)
