It wasn't a stellar video but it was right up Amazing Phil's alley and that's fine by me. He looked cute and was smiley and there were a couple of things that seemed very honest.

Obviously the first person he thought of wasn't Cap. I'm not even saying that it must be Dan but if it was some Marvel hero, we all know it would be the love of my - and Phil's - life, Chris Hemsworth. Because THOR come on.
The mammuth, I mean, I don't think that's necessarily a fake answer. Phil's mind is weird and mysterious so I wouldn't put it past him. My bet was on dog but at least it wasn't lion. I like that when he had to analyze his take on a problem he opened up a little bit and let us in on his anxiety and how he goes over the small stuff making it bigger than it is. It seemed very real to me, and we know he has anxiety nightmares and it felt like a small peak into his brain.

The penthouse answer, man, I love my millionaire man who pretends to be all humble by not dreaming of a mansion and being satisfied with a simple penthouse where he can see the skyline of New York. He does dream big, and his ambition luckily always played off nice.

The fence question had me dying because I too thought there was no way he could have a fence with a penthouse like, come on. I do like that he said he would need a fence in the eye of the quiz because he's quite guarded, damn isn't that right. He's aware of it and probably knows the phandom would love for him to be more open.

I do think he glossed over the love life questions a bit, but I also think it could be true that he thought of a puddle thus he doesn't desire a big love life..why would you wish for something you already have

It sure was a fillery video, and I probably would've loved a gaming video more than this but I'm glad we had some kind of content since I'm used to see his lovely face on Thursdays.
Will probably never be over the BONCAS and the beauty of Phil Lester.

[Offtopic]Sorry about the offtopic-ness, but I just found this and HAD to share. I present to you, the next onesie that Dan definitely needs in his collection:

SHIBE! I saw it and immediately thought of him.

Sidenote: They also have a Toothless onesie from How to Train Your Dragon, and I'm trying really, really hard not to give into my impulse to buy it!

I actually quite liked Phil's video but I'm a new fan so I must have substantially lower expectations! I think Phil is really cute and this felt a little more adult to me than some of his other videos I've seen as he talked about a dream house with pets and dealing with problems, etc... it didn't feel like pandering to the youth demographic. However, I'd much rather if he had done it with someone as well (cough dan cough but even another yt friend would have been fun) because I think your friends often have good insight into your life as well and might read your answers differently.

The video was kinda meh, it was essentially just filler. It wasn't bad, but there wasn't really much special to it.
I don't doubt some of his answers were lies, but this probably wasn't the kind of video where he was going to drop some sort of truth bomb on us via psychology.
Overall, pretty average

Very true! I played the video during dinner and had my husband and son jot down their answers. Midway through the kiddo said "this is so much fun!" (I guess we found his target audience.) I also realized I didn't picture what I did with my cup, oops. Afterward the husband said "you realize those weren't Phil's real answers right?"

Re: Phil's male attraction mentions, perceived sexuality and the possible meanings of his water size and interactions: I suppose this video could add fuel to the fire of those that think of Phil as asexual or aromantic. But I think the dirty puddle might have just been a result of his NYC tangent, he seemed to rationalize it, rather than picture it.

(In case anyone Is curious, my husband was walking in the woods with a guy named Bob and they apparently have a very fragile relationship, glass. The kiddo was with one of his friends and their relationship is as durable and long lasting as plastic, which is great as they mostly play Legos.)

well for the first answer about the person, I got dan (haha what a surprise), then for the animal i got a cat. the action i did when i first saw the cat was we met each other and started walking with each other. i would live in a small, cozy house (sort of cabin like?), there would be a fence, and on the dining table there would be lots of food and toys (like kids toys haha im lame), the cup would be Styrofoam, i'd pour juice in the cup. the size of the water near the park would be the size of the ocean (lmao), and i'd get across in a boat.

i think this mostly sums me up pretty accurately i'd think? except for the cat, i tend to think my problems are huge rather than small

What I appreciate about Phil is that he puts whatever he wants on his channel - there's no integrity here! But that can be both a good thing and a bad thing.

This was not my favourite AP video, but it did give me a nostalgic vibe, because when I first started watching deppy (and ofc i watched all their joint videos first) Phil had recently done a series of interactive story quizzes with Dan. This video had a similar vibe, which is perhaps why I didn't like it as much - I half-expected Dan to arrive and provide his own answers to the quiz. :( On a related note, I have been craving a ditl video for so so long Phil pls deliver :please:

... I mean, I'm chill, I'm chill, I'm chill ... :snow:

I call bullshit on Phil thinking of Captain America first. I mean, I call bullshit on most of the video. Very AP, very scripted feel, and that's not really my thing. Give me that vloggy goodness utilise LAP pls phil pls

Also, I was with my sister, saw a squirrel, whom I chatted with, my house was big (and green and white), with no fence. My table had a bowl of fruit (yay food!), the cup was plastic and I looked inside it, my body of water was a lake (of Shining Waters), and I used a rowboat to get across it. Hmm.

I liked the video, it certainly isn't my favourite but it was a bit fun. I'm currently translating it because I enjoy translating their videos (I study translation and it is a good way to practice) and I think I'm going to end up memorising it hahahaha (also, I have to constantly pause it and the faces I pause on are hilarious, I love you Phil)

Anyone else here has translated any of their videos?

No, but that sounds really fun! Is it more for fun or can you actually provide people with the translations? I'm not too sure about how a lot of things work... :(

Translating their videos is just for fun (and practice) and if my subtitles are accepted they get published and I get credit on the description of the video (I already got 1 published but I forgot which video it was  ) not all of my subtitles have been published but I don't mind, translation class is hard and since this is what I want to do I appreciate having the chance to practice.

Oh Phil.
If anyone else thought their answer for the last question didn't fit, this might be why.

My quiz results:
Went walking with my boyfriend, which makes sense, he's definitely the most important person in my life. I met a squirrel that I chattered happily with, which is just painfully accurate because I tend to deal with problems by denial and pretending they're not really that much of a big deal, and I think I can solve everything by just talking it out and ignoring the bad stuff. Medium-sized house for my medium-sized ambitions, very much NOT a fence screw that. Clean table without food, people or flowers, but plenty of green plants and a couple of candles, idk. Ceramic mug that I picked up and placed on a counter so that it wouldn't break because I'm fond of that mug yo. As for the body of water, I couldn't make up my mind if it was a small pond or a small lake so I did both, which amuses me A LOT now that I know it was about sex drive - it's not constant man. Jumped over the pond carefully, walked around the lake, dunno what that says about my sex life but oh well.

The quiz he took is linked in the video description, and it indeed has "desire for love".
I don't doubt he searched for and chose a more PG version of the quiz, though.

The AP vid also made me quite nostalgic and gave me young Phil vibes! I enjoyed playing along, i was walking with my son, saw a squirrel and let it run free (i don't know what this means lol), I saw an average sized house with no fence (although i also hate when people turn up unexpectedly!) there a long empty table ( damn lol) then i saw a china cup and left it there (again damn), then there was a lake which i rowed across.
I showed it to my son this morning and he did it over breakfast and he really enjoyed answering the questions!

I must say we had a good giggle over someone's youtube comment saying they saw a puddle which they crawled through

I watched the video last night and was too sleepy to play along and take the test with him, and it's the first time I didn't "participate" in his interactive videos.. I was just thinking a few days ago that I miss the drawing game and his tests :( idk, it was a nice video, even though it's more of a filler. I actually appreciate that there's nothing much to overthink and over-analyze there, and I'm just glad he uploaded something. his content means to be uplifting and chill, it's not pretentious or fake deep, it's just Phil doing random things, and Phil doesn't take himself too seriously, which is something I like about him, despite the fact that I really miss his 2006-2009 approach. the vid made me smile, and some of the results were interesting, like the mammoth one, it's nice that he decided to add some commentary about how he deals with/views his problems, and overall his commentary was pretty funny. don't know why people are mad at him for the Captain America thing lol, it's AmazingPhil after all, plus there's a chance he didn't "lie" because when I was watching the video, the first person I thought of was Phil and as much as I love him, he's obviously not the most important person in my life lmao. maybe he didn't want to think of anyone he knows irl or something. he just thought of something random to make a funny video that would fit his persona ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I tell myself not to even hope for a MBTI test video, but it's still one of my biggest wishes, even though it's unrealistic :napsta:

I'm a bit late but I thought that video was... okay! Not my favourite but fun to think about, though I think this test definitely doesn't mean anything despite a few coincidences/room for interpretation  I'm an oversharer so if anyone's interested my answers are under the spoiler:
1. I disregarded my first thought (Phil) as I feel like he put the idea in my head to be walking with him, and the next person that sprang to mind was Spike as I'd been binging BtVS Season 2 all day (not mad about it tho).
2. It was a cat (more specifically, my Patronus, which is a tortoiseshell, probably triggered by the forest imagery). I definitely don't relate it to the size of my problems, though objectively compared to poverty and Phil stressing over fame/business/branding/multiple work things I don't have it that bad. Depression also magnifies my problems in my head perhaps. But because of said depression I pictured a cat, because cats are comforting.
3. I stroked it. I guess I could interpret that as passive (true) and how I acknowledge the problem and play with it in my head but don't tackle it head on. Aka I procrastinate and avoid.
4. The idea of having any kind of house easily accessible in a deserted forest creeped me out so I imagined a secret door hidden in a tree that would lead down into an underground enclosure that opened out to the side of a hill (so a kind of convoluted version of Bilbo Baggins's house in Hobbiton). That sounds right: spacious enough for one, with room for a library/designated room for books and reading, but comfortable and not too big. My ambition is to be comfortable and content I guess.
5. No fence, but that would have made my secret door stick out like a sore thumb and make me accessible to potential serial killers, so the hidden door without a fence indicates my personality is apparently both open and closed. Accurate perhaps. I want to be friends with people but people scare me.
6. I pictured a creepy, dimly lit dining room table, fancy and with candlesticks, like something out of a Hideo Kojima game (definitely not the kind of dining room I'd actually want though), but no people, flowers or food (though there were plastic apples in a bowl in the centre of the table). Accurate in regards to my happiness levels, I suppose.
7. I pictured a willow-patterned china teacup and saucer. So quite fragile? I mean yeah, Spike's a fictional character of a show I've only just started watching, I'm not hugely attached to him (yet). I sipped hot tea from it. (Tentatively dabbling in my growing hot passions? Lmao)
8. I pictured the other entrance of my house opening on to an Alice in Wonderland-esque secret garden/a garden I saw on the news recently where a woman turned this abandoned mess into a fairy tale garden with a lake. I pictured a small, calm lake, or a big pond. Hmm. I crossed it on a lily pad (not physically possible but I didn't get wet in my imagination). Yeah I want to be loved, not sure about my sexual drive though, and yeah I don't consider sex essential in a relationship. I'd rather not have it.

MBTI would be great, since it would actually tell us something about them unlike the walk in the woods (though that's probably why they wouldn't do it). I think the most we've gotten was Dan talking about it in a live show

The more I think about it, the more I really do wish he'd just gone the Buzzfeed route. The options on those quizzes are always hilarious to watch someone pick between. And it doesn't even matter if he has time to prethink those, he's still got a set number of options. I think when it comes to online quizzes I'd rather go for blatant silliness than something that makes people want to genuinely reflect.

yeah, it's sad that they wouldn't, but I totally understand why. the phandom doesn't let them breathe with the over-analyzing, so they have a valid reason to be wary of getting personal. other youtubers have it so much easier than it comes to that, we're all too invested in DnP  but the buzzfeed quizzes could be good because they're both silly and can have more interesting opinions to choose from as well. I think I'd settle for them just telling their types in a liveshow or something, they don't have to do the test on camera. tbh I just really want to know if Phil actually is an INFP because that's my type so I'm curious  and Dan is an INFJ, apparently.

goingbackto505 I don't think anyone is actually mad at Phil for the Captain America answer, it is a very AmazingPhil answer and really, I would expect nothing less. I think most of us are just shaking our heads or rolling our eyes. I think it's possible Cap popped in his brain, but it's equally conceivable that he knew some of the meanings ahead of time and decided to build that fence between his personal life and the audience. Personally I would like to think that if he was actually being led through this as a guided meditation that he would be walking next to Dan. But like I said earlier, he has a unique, creative mind and yes, we do love him for it. We all know who the most important person is in his life (regardless of how we perceive the nature of their relationship), but as other people's answers have shown (fictional characters and celebrities) the test isn't 100% accurate.

So since we didn't get a collab yesterday, but many people were hoping for one, I'm curious about what you would like to see for a future one (besides DITL or baking). I would love to see them do another one of those $5 services they did on tour. I'm really a sucker for anything vaguely mystic, but they might feel like they've met their quota for that this year. Any good short games that would fit on AP rather than the video channel? Phil teaches Dan about the benifits of moisturizing?

I love the fact that Dan seems to be an INFJ; When I found out about it I thought "damn, that makes sense" since he's aways been very intriguing to me, even with his pretentious thoughts and all. I'm an ENFP, so a small part of me wishes Phil was one as well. Alas, INFP seems more likely.
