And someone on Tumblr recorded them exiting the side door and getting on the bus. They probably wanted to get that two hour drive over so they could shower and go to bed in Columbus.
Actually I'm starting to think thats pretty standard for them after the show. My friend and I were hoping to see them on the way out after the show in st. louis so we could say good bye, but by the time we walked out the side door that their tour bus was parked by they were already gone (probably only took us literally a minute to walk out after they had left the stage). People said they ran out straight after getting off stage and straight onto the bus and pulled out immediately. And there were a lot of people outside, so tbh it kinda makes sense that its easier to just run on the bus straight after while people are filing out than to have to wait until the crowd completely disperses. I remember seeing videos after the bbc radio shows that there would be a big crowd waiting on them outside the building, so they've probably had the plan to get out as quick as possible as they've been dealing with it for years.
it kind of made me sad tbh cause the whole end of the show is "you're as important as us as we are to you" and then straight after they have to plan an escape because the phandom can be so much sometimes. like obviously they're tired and probs just want to rest after the show not be greeted with a mob of fans all wanting to get a pic and say hello (not that i think the fans have any ill will, its just kind of gotten out of hand ya know?)
sorry this was such a rant but my friend and i had a long discussion about if after because we were honestly so shocked at how quickly the boys had to gtfo the theatre
I think it's a lot less to do with 'escaping fans' than to get to their next destination as quickly as they can, especially if there's a hotel they need to check into. Though I don't doubt that they probably don't want to spend another half hour or so greeting people at stage door after they just met a bunch of people and put on a show.
 Shows that their system works! Getting out in under a minute? Quite a feat, they must be really dedicated to getting out asap and avoiding all possible social contact.
Sounds very Dan and Phil. I get it, they must be tired after a full day spent in waiting rooms, make-up chairs, meet and greets and a show... I just know they want to make a run to the wifi and just retreat into their personal bubble for a while.

im kinda late to the party and the topic had passed already but i feel like this goes to all DiScOuRsEs™ in general, ill try to make it short:
  • communication with fans is important, but regarding shitstorms and whatnot, theres a certain way you have to go about it. example: if theres a small problem that arose at a work setting, the proper procedure is for the staff to talk it out first and see if they can manage to extinguish it before it grows. if that doesnt work, then they bring it to their manager. if things still further escalate, then the manager will bring it up to their superiors and work on a plan to tackle it. of course theres many factors that contribute to this but this requires everyone to be on the same page. the higher-ups need information on what strategies the staff had tried already to make sure no one is wasting time and energy.

if people just kept on not dealing with the problem themselves first while its still small and just going straight to the manager, its going to fester a stressful work environment: making the staff seem incompetent and the manager feeling like they have to babysit grown adults 24/7. so, no, its not mandatory for dnp to deal with every. single. problem. and. discourse. in the fandom when we, as fans, could deal with it ourselves. unless its a huge thing, like an ongoing problem that needs to be discussed or a safety risk for example, then thats an appropriate time to notify dan and phil.

also, as someone who has been a fan for a long time, some dramas are just....repetitive. they may have different topics, but the structure or the root causes may sometimes be the same. imagine having a wall of people pestering you on your twitter, tumblr and youtube comments about the same problems that just keep on recycling every YEAR. dan and phil may not be perfect, but they are not naive. theyve been through many "dramas" in the fandom and have long since evolved their way of interacting with us. their friends and close people are also just as capable. it cant be helped that fans bother them as well, but if theres a problem that arises, they know how to deal with it themselves.
also ps. OH GOD SEEING DANS ICED CAPP STORY REMINDED ME ITS ALREADY AUGUST AND THAT ILL SEE THEM IN LIKE TWO WEEKS this doesnt feel real someone slap me

Okay but I want to know exactly what face masks, there's so little else to overanalyze that we might as well get into skin types and treatments here.

I kinda think it's more for security reasons. People will wait at stage door and they either have to have a chaotic m&g right then and there or security will have to force their way out of it which won't be a good image. And people WILL drive next to the bus in hopes of catching a glimpse of them or catching them when they're stopping for snacks or whatever. It's dangerous and pretty much uncontrollable; no sensible management and security team will allow it.

Going off of the fact that Dan's is green, I'm going to guess that those are the sephora face masks they hauled in the rize livestream on July 19th (at 6:26 in). I could be totally wrong, but I don't think it's super far fetched to assume that Dan is using the green tea one and Phil is using the coconut one, especially since the packaging is pretty clear to see in the liveshow. I would go on about some of the benefits of the contents of the sheet masks (especially the green tea one as I have acne and oily skin, and it's good for that kind of stuff), but I think that's enough ~useless information from me.

Dan's eyes always do me in. sigh
They sure seem to spend a lot of attention on their skin care and i hear that they wear a good deal of make-up at the meet and greets too. The result of a fanbase feeling a lot of attraction or just their normal modus operandi? Hard to know.

People follow the bus? :dead2: That's so stalkerish.
Yea I mean I think their motivation to leave soon and security motivations go hand in hand. Maybe it was suggested by tour management or security rather than themselves. I think it was their own idea though. Their would be other ways to organize it to make it safe and that would enable them to make some selfies and wave to some fans as they leave the premises, it would just take them longer. It's their tour and security in the end so they could set it up like they want to
I think they really just want to go to 'their place' after a long day.

Those are cute, even Phil’s isn’t too bad when he smirks. Someone was just saying yesterday on Twitter that their skin was so good, which masks are they using, and now here they are. Spooky.

Somehow I find this less horrifying than the puppy filter one. Maybe because it’s imtentional classic horror? Though I agree when his eyes relaxed into a smile it was better and that was the screenshot I chose to use next to Dan’s. I don’t know how I didn’t realize until today that the white eared animal filter was a kitten and not a second puppy. The nose and the whiskers are a dead give away, but I think the subjects were too small before... or I’m just really obtuse. Fascinating. Love that button up dinosaur shirt, can’t wait to see it on Phil.

Since there's not much going on, and in the name of rewatching old things with new perspective, I got an ask on tumblr this morning about liveshows during "that week in March" (which according to Dan was actually more like a couple of weeks).

And holy shit, this liveshow was a doozy. I forgot how many often-referenced moments came out of that liveshow. A selection from the timestamps I took at the time:

17:27 - "I'm gonna get 'me and Phil' fucking tattooed on my forehead."
21:00 - "Oh my god. These last two weeks for Dan have been an emotional roller coaster. Physically."
29:14 - Guy was being a disruption in the theater. "Phil was in like, full social meerkat mode, just like having a crisis at this social situation that he felt responsible for." "Phil was just like [incoherent noises]."
33:05 - "Daniel Lester. Good suggestion. *snorts* Oh he did it."
34:50 - Open University sucks balls. "But whose to say that sucking balls isn't a good thing? Lets not be offensive. Or is it? Who knows."
43:41 - When did you start watching Phil's videos? "I don't know, back in like 2007 or something. I've been watching youtube since - when was my account created? 2006, 2005. I was watching youtube for ages and there was nothing interesting happening on youtube."
46:05 - I love this rant on being a critical fan. Preach it, Dan. "I'm allowed to have opinions. Just because you're a fan of something doesn't mean you have to support it through thick and thin. If you're a fan of a band and someone in the band murders somebody, you don't have to support them, okay. You can criticize them."
51:03 - He doesn't like when people comment on other videos saying Dan sent them, it embarrasses him.
54:07 - He has been irrationally sleepy, and does have an idea why. He ate two apples just to zazz himself.
56:14 - Dan stayed in side on St Patricks Day and looked at people wearing novelty hats whilst throwing up on the floor.
57:05 - "Firstly, non-straight people exist."
57:55 - "You can have any sexual identity you want."
59:21- Rant on not needing to define your sexuality with a label. Not gonna type it out since fancybum is the true mvp who already has. But Dan circles around the whole topic of not being straight in as close a brush with directness as he's ever done before.
1:00:50 - "formless blob"
1:01:30 - He likes queer as a good umbrella term for anything that isn't the norm.
1:03:01 - "formless blob" again

All of those things I remembered individually as things that happened during Dan liveshows, it just somehow in the past year and a half escaped me that they were all the same liveshow.

The St. Patrick's Day part especially stood out to me. I remember at the time assuming that 'while throwing up on the floor' was a misspeak and he meant the people he was watching from through the window were the ones throwing up, but now I'm pretty sure he was just being blunt about his actual experience given that since then he's referenced physical sickness being part of that whole experience.

(Basically this whole trip down liveshow memory lane is brought to you by me feeling really fond of Dan for making it through something that sounded like the one of the shittiest experiences imaginable.)

I’m actually kind of surprised that he wore the shirt (if it’s true that he got it from a fan). They’ve repeatedly said that they don’t want gifts and it’s on the tour website as well isn’t it. By wearing something that has been gifted he sort of says that the rule isn't that important. I always thought that the reason for the gift rule, besides the the “we don't have space”-thing, was that they don’t want fans to spend their money on gifts in order to get dnp’s attention. So yeah, I’m a bit surprised.

Alittledizzy, thanks for those timestamps! Need to rewatch that liveshow asap.

Great walk down memory lane Dizzy. That was actually the first liveshow I ever saw and when I fell down the rabbit hole. I had only watched a few videos then.
The whole formless blob thing just meant so much for me to hear, it made me feel so safe to hear him say stuff like that. When I met them in Malmø I made them sign my book and make it out to “Formless Blob” 😀
